Jetting after squish set

Im currently running 175 main, 42 pilot with NECW on 3rd clip and believe that my bike is still running rich. Air screw is 1.5 turns out. Im getting what I think is pipe bang when coming off throttle. When I come off throttle there is a second or so when the engine gives a ting ting rather than immediately settling into a consistent idle. My 2012 model with JD jetting didnt do this.

Everywhere else it seems fine apart from there being spooge coming out of exhaust. Plug is pretty black too.
Just wondering if getting the squish set means that I will be running leaner than I would if the squish hadnt been set. Im thinking of going to the NECJ needle and giving that a try.
Bike is a 2018 ec300 and using the chart supplied by gasgas Australia my bike should already be running lean with these settings.
What is everyones opinion, would dropping the main to a 172 be a better option? Should I try a 40 pilot??
thanks

One thing at a time. Think throttle position. Think what jet controls that. Ignore plug colour and spooge.
Reason, you can be lean in one area, rich in another and those two symptoms won't tell you where.

I'd try drop your needle, if it gets better try the top clip. Again this controls 1/8 to almost 3/4 . Then work on idle mixture screw and change pilots if you stop getting improvement. Then main.

Anecdotally I needed leaner settings on my 07 after squish and head mods. Results may differ.

thanks f5,
so drop the needle n if thats better then try the necj..

I will update when Ive done it..
thanks

On this carb - don't be afraid to go 2 to 2 1/4 turns out on air screw.

Make sure your idle is set properly and not coil bound... When switching from stock n1ef needle - *always* back out idle screw and reset it. This will have needle (and slide) down and bring low speed ckt (air screw and pilot) more into play.

If you air screw is having little effect when turning it in and out a half turn - something is off - need to dump stock needle - need to back out your idle and reset...

I am running a NECJ at mostly sea level with 172 and a 40 pilot in summer on clip 2. Clean crisp with barely a dribble out the pipe. Remember there will always be some spooge out the back. You never want to have nothing, it is lubrication after all.
I only tweak the air screw with a 42 pilot in winter. Having the squish set and compression lowered helps massively with knocking and pipe bang.
