Hi all, new to Gas Gas and jetting a 2 stroke. I have a 2014 300 and stock my bike ran very on/off. It would made mediocre power down bottom and then just hit into the powerband and take off too abruptly. At the advice of several on the forum I changed to a Suzuki NEDW needle. I can say it has really transformed the bike and it now makes smooth linear power with awesome mid range and top end. I added a 50 tooth rear sprocket so some of that gain could be from the gearing.
On stock jetting the bike would have a line of spooge out of the tail pipe, with the new needle there is no spooge drip (couple of light spots). It also sounds very tinny. I am not a jetting expert, but is this a sign that I am running too lean? Or is this a sign that I am in the ballpark? It idles and rev's good, and maybe it is just because of the low ambient temp (37F)that day it is running a tad lean? I do not have the patience nor the skill to constantly change out and test different jetting, but I don't want to run too lean either.
I ran same oil mix 50:1 as before, so only explanation can be jetting. Should I have some kind of spooge visible? If this is a sign of running too lean would moving the clip down one spot potentially resolve the issue?
