Kickstand solution?

i was fine with my chain link personally, but its nice to see that companies are taking interest in aftermarket parts

Just ordered the Enduro Engineering kickstand and spring relocator (new item for GG). I rigged a similar fastener on my stand as a temporary experiment and it worked, so hopefully this will be a solid, permanent solution to the bruised shins! Will post pics and a review asap.

I talked to EE's Gary Hazel about this piece Saturday night. Basically the upper spring attachment is relocated (as many have done with a chain link) and one of the springs is removed. Not as sturdy in the raised position as the stocker, but it does eliminate the shin busting nature of the OE part. Time will tell if this flops around on the trail.

More interesting may be their kickstand shoe - it maybe doubles the standard kickstand foot area and should help reduce tip overs due to the stand sinking into the soil.

I got the shoe too. :D For 10 bucks each it's worth a try. And I've already ditched the outer spring. So far, after one day of riding, it didn't flop around enough to be an issue for my style of old guy putt-putt riding.

I was thinking about something to widen the kickstand base.....one day I stopped on the trail to have a leak...and looked back and the bike was lying on its side :D

think I will try that one...

Got my kickstand stuff from Enduro Engineering today! Pics below.

This pic shows the size difference between the OEM stand and the EE "pad".

After drilling the hole per the instructions and mounting the pad with the supplied hardware, it was obvious there was some additional work required to fully seat the nut. I broke out the Dremel!

I ground the uneven surface with a Dremel.

To produce a better surface.

This 4 picture limit is really annoying...

Here's the new spring mount.

And the final products...

For 30 bucks shipped, this was probably one of the best and cheapest investments I've put into a bike in a LONG time! No more beat-up shins and a VERY robust, well designed product. Happy happy happy! :)

Hey Krieg looks good. You may have done it already But in case you didn't The bottom chain roller can certainly use some blue lock tight or a thread lock of some kind added and re torqued.
I've lost one before and since it doubles as a kickstand mount, its a double whammy if you lose it.

Thanks for that info. Hopefully anyone who reads this thread will heed your warning because when I went to "wrenching" to mount this new hardware, I noticed the chain roller bolt was "hand tight" at best. I did apply some blue loctite when I tightened things back up.

Nice looking pieces. Wish they would make a whole kickstand and mount though, that would be nice.

Cool looking job! Anyone know how long that spacer boss has been part of the frame? Mine just has a washer between the stand top mounting hole and the frame. I added the chain link mod to the washer to help angle the stand down to stop it mashing the plastics. Looks like that was addressed by the factory sometime between 06 and now.

I went the cheap rout to disable the auto retract on my 2011. Works like a charm though, very stable.
I have always used the chain link mod except for on my 2008. I turned the springs around and that did the trick on that bike. Not sure why  Scratched my head and went with it.
