Kickstand, Useless?

Hi,

I just picked up a '03 fse400 a couple of weeks ago and the kickstand had been modified. I removed it and had it shortened back to the original length. The question that I have is that now it seems that unless the bike is on level ground, it doesn't do much good. The lean angle isn't very much at all and if the bike is sitting on a slight angle it will fall over very easy.

Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a mod to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome John.

All, I knew this guy when I lived in Dallas. We were in the same Sportbike club. He is a great guy.

John I have my old kickstand off of my 04 300DE. You can have it if it will fit.

Boom

Thanks for the words Boom. It has been too long since we tore up the roads...

The problem that I seem to have is the foot is very close to the bike. Most of the other stands that I see, the foot is out a good 4-6 inches. This one is more like 3. If it sinks ANY, the bike wants to fall over. If the foot is on high ground at all, the bike wants to fall over. I saw the mod to keep the foot down, but what I need to know is if I can adjust the distance (angle) from the bike.

One of the guys here heated his kickstand leg and bent it straight. It remedied the automatic folding up on itself and probly has a much wider stance which your looking for. Do a search on the Kickstand from Hell and the follow up posts and U will find it.
