Little help

Got my suspension rebuilt and tuned at LTR and was enjoying it greatly for about 30min. Then this.....................
I destroyed my 300 cyl. Anyone have any great ideas to fix it? Anyone have any used ones for sale?

I am thinking a little JBweld.LOL

$335 USD for a new one (plus postage). They have much better tolerances and the updated port layout for a better spread of power across the rev range. Maybe powerseal can fix yours up for less, but here in Australia we can't even get a cylinder recoated for that.

I bet there is a few people that have spent way more than this to get a cylinder repaired

Its from spain.. Email them (info@motocrosscenter.com)

Gofasters were carrying S3 kits as well, which for I think around $600usd you could get piston, rings, clips, and hand ported race cylinder. Probably worth asking them too.

I spoke with gofasters today . They quoted me around $650 for the s3 if I was to go new that would be the way to go. But I might have got lucky . Sounds like a usable cyl. might be available to me. If I can put off $650 for a year or two it would be better.

True that. If $$ are tight it might work out better picking up a second hander to get you through. Same for piston, you'll still be up for a set of rings and all the gaskets though. If its going to cost half as much to do half a job it might be worthwhile. Depending on the hours and the state of the engine who knows what condition the bottom end is in, and if there is any debris still floating around from the failure.

I don't think I could trust an engine unless if it was built bottom up again, but thats just me.

I went through the bottom end not to long ago. But I am very worried about bits and pieces.:( I found most of the pieces in my pipe:D Oddly enough it pulled 60psi compression. I was surprised when I saw the shape everything was in.

So what do you attribute the engine failure to? Was the suspension so good you could hold the power on until it went into "meltdown"???;)

The suspension was perfect!!! The failure was because I F'ed up and put it together wrong. I hadn't ever rebuilt the bottom end in a engine before . So I spent several hours checking and double checking to make sure it was right. When I got to the top end I wasn't worried about it because I have done several. I got excited and didn't pay close enough attention to the piston orientation. And put it on backwards. :( So guess what I get to do. Practice makes perfect I guess.
So now I get to live with the shame of a rookie mistake. And the pain of a empty bank account.
All though this should attest to the durability of a gasgas. It didnt leave me walking and started on the third kick with a piston backwards.
