Looking for used Euro Silencer

This is the stock silencer that comes on the Euro bikes and also on some of the Canadian models as well. Have some ideas and would like to find a takeoff or one in decent shape.

Looks like it's the same silencer from 2003-present.

Here is a pic. Has the elbow in it.

Well first I want to see how it compares sound wise to the silencer that came with my bike (just a long straight sliencer with no S/A but not terrible) and my quiet 97 KTM. There must be a reason this bigger silencer is used everywhere else but in the US market and I assume it's a quietier sound and I love a quiet bike. Second I believe I can adapt a Kritzman internal S/A from an old KTM hockey stick silencer to this one with a little work (personally I think the whole S/A thing being needed on 2 strokes is total BS. On a 4 stroke yes). Love a project. Yeah, I'm aware of the FMF TCII and I'll also have a Db Snorkle to mess around with. What I really want is FMF to build the new Stealth silencer for the Gas Gas bikes but I guess we will have to wait on that. I also just like the looks of the silencer better than the little shorty ones. Silly but that's me:rolleyes:

I've had several different pipes and silencers on my 03 and 97. The stock euro from my 97 was by far the quietest one. well,, I take that back.. I pieced together a ktm silencer from a 250 to fit once on my 03 and it was very quiet.. but I never got the mounting to work. I ended up giving that to a buddy who needed one for his ktm.. I would like to have finished that but never did. Still have the 97.. but I also have the stock hockeystick and a sparky to try to fit on..

I'd like to follow this discussion. Those KTM's with the hockey sticks ARE very quiet. I'd like my MC to be quieter. I have a TCII on there now and when checked it blows about 91-92 dB.

Cruiser, I'm curious about the mounting problems you had with the KTM silencer. Was it just the mounting "tabs" were in the wrong place or were there more fundamental problems like the overall bends "wrong?"

Seems it would be easy enough to remove and reweld tabs and such provided one has access to and is proficient with a TIG welder. On that same note what's different about the FMF Stealth for other brands? Maybe it wouldn't be that tough to adapt one to a GG.
 
The stock Euro (Messico, non-S/A) silencer, that came on my '98 EC250, was by far the quietest, non-modified silencer I've ever had on a GG. It killed me to hack 6" off it to attach a USFS-legal S/A. Before adding the S/A it tested in the high-80s. After adding the S/A it gained ~4 dbA.

For a while I had a db-Snorkel added to the FMF TC2 on my '01 XC300, which lowered the sound 5 to 6 dbA. Unfortunately I lost that whole silencer at the Rocky Mt. Enduro in '06 and never got it back. :mad:
 
'07 has a different bend in the pipe that connects to the stinger, because the subframe is new. All the '07s I've seen come here came with a Messico silencer only, no SA. Its shorter, barely protrudes past the right rear side panel.

The euro one pictured has the same part # from 07 back to 03 at least.

I know, no S/A
 
The ktm mounts werent even close.. The pipe either. I was going to weld on the pipe from my GG silencer and tig on new mounts,, never got around to it.. Got a db-snorkle instead.. which I'd be glad to sell.. if anybody wants,, PM me for details..
 
I have a stock 07 euro silencer (the hockey stick pipe). Make me an offer.

Boomhauer, you probably have the shorty silencer that comes on the racing edition bikes. I have one of these and it's great (still quiet - tested around 88dBA with old packing, haven't tried with new stuff yet) but lacks a spark arrestor.

From what I've seen its different. Even FMF had to make a new TC2 for '07+. I've seen pre '07 silencers heated and bent to fit the '07s when they first came out. If you really need the big GG silencer/SA then I'd make Steve an offer.
