mc vs ec/de cranks

Got some specs on the mc 2003 versus ec/de crankshaft bobweights. The ec bobweight weighs in at 295 grams or 10.54 onz the mc is more of just a spacer that takes up the space between the crank seal and the gear it weighs 56 grams or 2 onz making the ec/de crank assemblies 8.54 onz heavier otherwise the cranks are the same. Comparing the mc crank to a basket case 300 crank that I have i noticed that the mc crank has a stuffer the ec 300 crank does not. Can anybody corroborate this last point?

The newer 300 cranks are stuffed as well, or at least should be. I think it was an attempt at softening the power on the older bikes, like the reed spacer. There was a guy from Florida that had a 250 that started life as a 300. He could never get it to run like he thought it should, due to the crank. The older ECs/XCs had a full circle 10 oz primary weight, in '01 the went to the eccentric for supposodly better balance. I swapped one in my '00 and it did drop a little more vibration at higher RPM.

After going back a checking the serial #'s indicate the unstuffed crank is out of a 99, it may have come with stuffers originally that i dont know. Also I have a feeling that my mc motor may be a ringer all of the cases have the assembly date and a code etched into them, anybody see this before?

With the older bikes, anything is possible. Probably not many MCs made, so perhaps they pulled a number of ECs aside for MC mods, and marked them. Back in '99, the factory (and production #s) was even a lot smaller than it is today. The other possibility is that it was done by then importer GGNA.
