running metzeler 6days extreme in a 140/80/18 with continental heavy duty tube. what is the lowest pressure people are running these at

Maybe 11.5 or 12 IMO. Been running tubliss for some time now. Usually run around 4 in rear.

Depends on what type of terrain u are riding. Biggest issue with tube pressure is pinch flats (a thorn does not discriminate on differing pressures). I ride a lot of rocks and never went under 0.8bar with tubes. With tubliss I never go over 0.6 ;-)

depends on your weight and terrain.. how much off the tyre is in contact with the ground when your full body weight is on the bike.. I like to have the centre knob and next two knobs touching (frount&back) usually about 13/14.. I ride gravel&mud ... but next time I get tyres ill be fitting mooses..and a 120 instead of 140.

I've been running the Tubliss at the same pressure, 4 to 5. I haven't had a problem since the Tubliss were mounted about a year ago.

im kinda hijacking this thread but....
i was thinking of trying a thick sidewall desert AT knob [as others suggested here].
are these sidewalls very thick?

I would run as little as i could get by with given the terrain. i have noticed that tire doesnt work great with 12 or so psi but actually works very well with less air pressure.

I'm considering changing my tire setup to Tubliss , did a lot of research and I'm sold ! Only doubts I have are:

- does anyone have any experience running Metzeler MC4 on the rear with Tubliss ? I really like this tire but not sure if the sidewalls will do good with Tubliss . What about S12 on the front ?

- does anyone uses Tubliss for MX ? Not planing on doing Outdoors or anything but does it take this sort of beating ?

Thanks

why don't u run mosses?

Definitely too expensive for the time it lasts + the weight and feel it poses on the ride. Also needs to be lubed frequently .
Also I don't race against the clock where time is everything . For this there's no other choice than using a mosse .

No experience with your specific tire choice. I run S12 on the rear, M12 on the front. The tire sidewall construction should have no effect on the Tubliss.

I recommend you assemble the front using slime on all the surfaces. Fronts can be an issue because there isn't much tire volume. If you go low in pressure (<5psi) the tire carcass can flatten down against the rim lock. The rim lock plate then chews away at the carcass. This in itself is not a problem, but the rim lock can also move around slightly which eventually makes for low pressure air loss at that portion of the kevlar jacket.

No issues at all on rears. The Tubliss can take any pounding the tire can.

I also have not used this tire but if the sidewall is soft just run similar pressure to when you are riding with tubes - i guess the sidewall cuts come when riding low pressures in sharp rocks - you will still get most of the advantages of tubliss

I think that tubliss was developed with mx in mind so should be no problems at all
