Mismatched springs

After swapping in a set of .48 springs in my 45 shivers, I have found that I have perhaps went to a heavier than needed spring. I got to thinking, what if I ran one leg with the .48 spring, and the other leg with the stocker? I have heard of folks running mismatched springs in other applications, but I wonder is there a round about range where the difference between the two spring rates would be become unacceptable? Anyone have any experience doing this, and if so what sort of difference in rates were you working with?

I run a 42 with 4mm preload and a 44 with 1mm so not as much of a difference but can't see there being any prob with your proposed setup

I always wondered if there would be some sort of torsion between the legs but as there are some bikes that operate with one spring only (other fork leg doing damping only) I guess it has no effect
