moose rear wheel bearing kit

I recently replaced the wheel bearings in my recently acquired 05 EC300 with a moose bearing kit. I assume it is the same kit that was in it. I have been reading about a spacer washer between the bearings and my bike did not have one, nor did the bearing kit. I am now having problems when I tighten the wheel to correct torque it is binding. Will replacing with the OEM bearings and washer cease this problem? Thanks

Yes, it should. You need the washer so the tightening torque is transfered across the inner races, not across the outer bearing.

Yeah, but its not easy to remove a bearing without transfering a lot of axial force across the races, which is what damages them. I'd just buy the spacer and the outer bearing, slap hammer the outer bearing out, and drop/press the new parts in.

I just pulled the bearings out of my 2002 EC300 rear wheel- no washer. I have read the posts regarding the washer so I was on the lookout for it, but I haven't had any issues with the wheel binding at all without the washer. The fiche on gofasters has the washer, so why have I been so lucky?

Different hub on '02. '03 started dual bearing setup with washer and crappy alloy wheel spacer. Wheels interchange though, FYI.
