Mx ???

Recently had a go on the GG at the local MX track, was a ton of fun. However my GG was not exactly setup for it, soft suspension, lighting etc.

I love my GG and for the riding I mainly do it excels, its a fantastic bike. It is setup perfectly for trails and I do not want to mess with the setup to take it to the MX track.

Thinking of picking up a second bike for doing practice days at the track. I'm not sure what I'm looking for just yet, but want a 2T for sure. I was wondering how difficult it would be to setup an older GG EC200/250 for MX only, and if it would be worth the effort ? Or should I find a KTM or Japanese MX'er and be done with it ?

I'm not fast, and I dont need the latest/greatest machine. But my current EC250 was bottoming out regularly lol.

I was going to say YZ or RM as well. Either a 125 or 250 depending on what you like. If you're just doing it for some fun its hard to go past a small bore screaming.

I'm 6' and 210lbs, a bit fat for a 125. Guess its only a set of springs and some valving to get it set up. 144 kit to pull my fat a$$ around ???

My main issue was the soft suspension, I certainly wasnt in need of more power than my GG puts out.

Turned my 08 Husky CR125 into a 165 with bolt on top end kit that a fellow Husky rider came up with and is sold by a Cafe Husky site sponsor. I'm 200+ lbs myself and it more than pulls me around. I had an 05 YZ125 and 05 RM125 both fun but nowhere near the bike the Husky is IMHO (even in 125 trim). I recently lined up with a club members 200 KTM for some drag racing fun and my 165 ate it up everytime. We didn't switch up to see if the outcome would have been the same but I think it would have been. I have an 05 RM250 and my son has a 2011 TM250MX both of them are hard core MX bikes that you need to have your game face on to ride hard on a MX track. Lap time wise I'm faster on my 165 and have more fun on a MX track than I do with a 250 MX bike. LOL I'm old and slow so your results may different.

There are a few CR125 Huskys listed for sale fairly close ( within 4 hours ) seem to be reasonably priced too, far cheaper than a comparable older RM/YZ 125

Think I'll give Scotty a call and see if he has a line on one too, he usually has a Husky or 2 kickin around :)

Fwiw I wouldn't consider husky with their parts sourcing and a availability in Canada as it is now.

Was talking to a young guy at the track, he blew up his KTM 150 that day. Had 6 hours on the top end, and only 5 on the previous top end. After talking to him, I found out he only lives 6 blocks from me, small world.

He was FAST on it, and it seemed crisp throughout the range, not a jetting issue as far as I could tell. It was not stock, he had it ported etc, it was wicked quick.

Going through top ends that rapidly has me concerned though.

This is BS.
First you are not going to need any parts and second Rob Lang will have anything you need and if he doesn't I probably have it.

I'd say his porting job is partly to blame. A friend here rides a 144sx which is the same thing and puts 20+ hours on a top end. He is a 275+ pound A rider who flogs the beans out of it.

I will be a SCF at the Horseshoe Tract tomorrow if you would like to ride a WR165. I have tons of hours trail riding and racing this thing and there is not a better bike in the 200cc and under class. It will stomp all over and any bike in it's class as a 125 and as 165 it will beat most bikes with a 100cc or more.
When I find some time to edit some of my gopro footage I will post up a video of it beating a GasGas 300 six days on pavement second gear roll on to top speed.

I guess things are different on the east coast. West coast dealers have little stock, blame no Canadian warehouse .

I'd take you up on that if it were Sunday, I'm heading over for a ride in the AM. Gotta work tomorrow unfortunately.

Scott just had a sweet CR125 for sale with a ton of extras and suspension mods, think Superfly picked it up, only 3 hours on it. Think Scott was asking $4900 for it.
