My 2011 version of a 1999 EC300

So, when the 2012 Gas Gas giveaway was going on I can't imagine anyone tried any harder to win than I did. I submitted so my times a day it was crazy. (Not sure more than one counted though) I REALLY wanted a new Gas Gas EC/XC but just don't have the funds, unfortunately. And it really bummed me that the person who won was trying to sell it. That just seemed wrong. But that's life.

So anyway... I found an old 1999 EC300 which looked rather rough and started working on it. I bought some new plastics and had PG Graphics to do some 2011 style graphics for me. Threw a Trailtech headlight on it and it turned out pretty decent. The bike already had Ohlins suspension, Cycra wraparound hand guards, FMF Gold pipe and Pro Circuit Exhaust.

I still need to locate some parts for it. Still seeking a kickstand, I want to get some Renthal Twinwalls or Fatbars to replace the ProTapers, a competition taillight, I need some sort of enduro computer really bad and it could use some other improvements as well but doing all this with very limited funds. If anyone on the forum has some things this bike needs and could help such as an enduro computer, extra Renthals or a kickstand that would work please let me know as I have some things I could barter for them if interested.

Anyway, it may not be a lot or as cool as a lot of the bikes on here....as there are some beauties that people are blessed with...but I am thankful for what I have.

Great job!! The bike looks good!!! I have an 01 300ec that looks like I can't give up so I'll be going through the whole bike and keeping it for a very long time.. I don't have a stand either.. I bought a kx 250 trailtech stand for $50 and hopefully it should be an easy adapt. We'll see later. The graphics look great! and the headlight too.. Gasgas are really great bikes ..

I actually just got a Ricochet kickstand that Ed on the forums sold me. It worked well on his 04 GG 300 so it should work pretty good on mine as well with a bit of tweaking. Thanks, Ed!

I'm also in the process of making a trade for a set of new Renthal TwinWall bars. I'm not to fond of the Pro Tapers that are on there now.

Still looking for a couple of things. I've posted on the "Want to trade", "Want to buy" forums but no luck at all thus far.

Does anyone out there have either of the following two items?

1-Enduro computer. Vapor, Trailtech, whatever. I've got a bud that is pretty good with wiring so anything like that should work. Could even be one off an old Orange bike. Just want something to not only do what its meant for but to also make the bike look better. The handlebars look real empty to me.

2-Garmin Etrex20 or Foretrex 101

I have a lot of different bike items could barter ...KTM lever, sprockets...GG plastic...brand new Yamaha One Industries numbers and seat cover....as well as some Maxxis Maxxcross SI tires

Got the used Ricochet kickstand I got from Ed mounted. Works fine. Nothing earth shattering by saying this but it is extremely nice to be able to park the bike wherever/whenever I want.

Meeting someone to trade some tires for a new set of Renthal Twinwalls.

Now really wish I could find an old enduro computer. Anyone?

The project continues. One of the cool things of not having something brand new is trying to get an oldie but goodie to be/look as best as can be. It's fun.

Nice work flatout111 I am also in the process of going over a 1999 xc250 and I agree these bikes rock! Your bike looks great. I am saving at the moment for new plastics and other goodies as well I am in the process of re-doing my top end and going thru the motor at the moment. Can't wait to get the bike setup for me I think I will just love it that much more. I'll post pictures when I'm done.

About the seat cover. I'm not sure. It was on it when I got it. It isn't in perfect condition but I do like it. Most of the graphics/plastic that was on it before looked like GoFasters stuff. So call Mark and ask him. Though I've never seen an all black one on their old stock on their site. It used to have the Yellow/pink Throttle Jockey graphics on it before I had my buds at PG graphics do this "2011" styled motif.
