Need a little more low end grunt

I have a couple questions regarding my 05 DE250. I purchased this bike new 3 years ago and was not happy with the low end power coming off 250exc's to the GG, i did the LTR rejet and slide, also power valve cover and regeared the bike down. I have learned to live with it but now want to pass bike on to my son. He rides a 2003 exc 200 that has a few mods to increase low end and tame the hit, flywheel, reed cage, gnarly pipe and silencer ect. I'm wondering what mods to do that will increase the low end on this GG? Seems to be a few threads about squish volume, reed spacers, base gasket thicknesses ect, what works best?? Also is there anyway to increase output on the k2-2 stator?? I'm looking forward to a new ec300 "racing" this year, anyone have one of these yet????

Assuming your jetting is well tuned, the best thing for improving low to mid power is the RB Designs head mod to improve the squish band. It provides a significant improvement and is in my judgment the best bang for your dollar. Further, it improves fuel mileage.

Port timing can be adjusted down by removing base gaskets. On the 300's a little bit goes along way . I don't think the 250's are quite as responsive but it defenitly helps. You could go to one gasket on the base .5mm and then do the quinch solder test and send in the head to RB. This will defenitly get you allot more low end.The RB carb mod is well wirth the money also. The FMF gnarly will help. Check your reed cage for proper seal also. We had one go south on a 300 and it killed the bottom grunt. The other option is to bolt on a 300 cylinder and piston.

Thanks for the info, the bike gets great milage but more is always better. I might give the head mod a try. The bike rips and is a wonderful performer all in all. But it runs more like a mx'er than a enduro power band wise. I roade an 03 ec250 and this bike had more low but not near the mid and top end rush of my 05, i'm sure GG made it's trade off to get more of a topend hit. This bike has a Boysen reed cage instead of the V-Force so that does not help either. It works fine until your doin the 1st gear greasy uphills with a switch back or two and a few step ups thrown in the mix. Then i have to really abuse that poor clutch. (good thing GG uses a better clutch than the JAP bikes i've owned in the past). BTW what is involved in installing the 300 cyl and piston, is it a straight bolt on? The rest of the lower engine, cases, crank and all the same between 250/300.
