Need some advice on 450s

Ok I am going to look at some GG 450FSEs...the one I am considering is an 05, set up pretty well. Big tank, Flexx handlebars, Cycra guards, steering stab, rear rotor guard.

Should I consider this bike....I have heard that you want to stay away from the 05 and older bikes.

Seems like everything you could want for the bike is on the bike. Price is pretty good.

What should I look for? From what I can tell in the photos (using deductive reasoning) it appears that the owner takes very good care of his bikes. Appears to have a pretty big shop with all the right stuff and several bikes, appear to all be set up very similar.

I am also considering Sherco 5.1 and Husky TE 510. What are the ins and outs of GG bikes. I currently own a DRZ 400e but the bike I had previous was a Husaberg 650 so I know high maintenance bikes. How are the GG 450s with maintenance, how reliable are they. I am looking for a good single track/fire road/tooling around streets going to and from trails. How would GG 450 fit.

This guy also has 07 and 08 450s as well prob not as good of a deal as the 05.

Are there super moto wheel options for the 450FSE....is there another manufacturer that will fit....KTM, Husky, ???????

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Darrin

well i have been running my '05 fse for 3 years of hard enduro riding/racing on amateur level(+300h). Maintenance wise these bikes are easy to keep running. I change oil and filters every 30h (by the book), valve play check every 60h, have not needed any valve adjustment so far. I have had a few issues with the e-starter, nothing major, more or less adjustments as I see it.

The '05 is the only year with the Adler slipper clutch shipped from stock, I like it very much, easy clutch maneuver and light engine braking.

The only thing that irritates me is that it has a tendecy to stall if lugged too low in the rpm range (lower than idle).

Chassis wise, I have needed to re-weld the foot peg brackets, check them for cracks.

Most of the earlier problems was sorted on the '05, steer clear of '04 and older.

In addition....what would you see as advantages of the GG over a Husky TE 450/510 and the disadvantages over the same.

I have narrowed it down to GG 450 and the Husky TE 450/510.

Once again any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Gas Gas is fuel injected. The Husky is more popular. I've heard nothing but good about the Husky's since about '02 forward. I'm not a fan of four strokes at all, but I do know the Husky is one very long lived engine. From Bergerhag's experience, I'd say the GG is also a well conceived engine with a long life.

If I were to give advice, I'd say get the best deal. By that I don't mean price, I mean which is the cleanest, best maintained, lowest hour perhaps. I'd drop my cash on the one which looked best cared for. I may scratch my head if it has all new plastic though. Look under the frame rails. Look at the discs for wear. Honestly you probably can't go wrong either way.
