New EC 250FSE

Dave Fair from GasGas Pacific was nice enough to send some pictures my way of his new demo bike.
Yes sir a New EC 250FSE. Man I wish I was there to take her out for a rip.

Dave mentioned it pulls like a tractor, down low and handles almost like a Trials machine. If you have seen Dave ride his Trials bike...he could make any bike acted like a Trials machine...:D The bike's engine is the reliable 4T from Yamaha and preformed flawlessly. Suspension was a little stiff up front but the 45 Marzocchi take a little time to break in.

You should give him a call and go see it for yourself.

Nice bike to ride - we've got one here too - but corked up from the factory and not worth having until it's opened up. Good thing FMF has developed a Power Bomb and silencer (w SA) for it.

"Fantastic handling", "great brakes", "good suspension", "superb ergonomics" - all comments from our Taste Test riders.

I'd really like to take one of these for a spin,, really would feel light after running the 625 around.. any news if the title states "not for highway"? Or can they be registered in some states?

I would talk to the guys at GoFasters
See what's up for the States.

This bike is in BC Canada. And is at GasGasPacific. I'm not sure if it is license-able or not. They just past a bunch of new laws concerning offroad bike with plates on them.

Yeah they come corked up , but Dave at Gas Gas Pacific removed the silencer insert and the throttle stop and it did wake it up some from what he told me. He quite likes it , and is impressed with the size of the bike. Small frame , and great ergos and of course the Famous Plush Zokes

When my wife gets a job I have to make a trip out to see them,, test ride all the different flavors..

MUCH nicer with the FMF pipe and jetting. Shoot me a pm and we'll see if we can't find somewhere in the middle to go riding.

ps. Plating will depend on your local regulations and DMV personnel, but the US versions are sold without tail light and blinkers - high and low still work, as does the "parking light".

When the titles comes does it get the dreaded stamp "not for highway use" or is it like the older GG titles and KTM titles,, left off ??

I knew that bike would be a winner, despite some of the initial negativity toward the Yamaha motor. The motor is great, and there are tons of parts and aftermarket stuff on every corner. Its like a Harley twin or a 350 Chevy. The '07+ aluminum frame WRs are real nice but have a taller/bigger feel than the GGs.

Does anyone know how many 250F specific parts are on the bike? Frame obviously but what else? Know what I'm thinkin'?;)

I hear ya on the motor swap. Shouldn't be too difficult to get it all together. I'm thinking the carb to airbox will be the biggest challenge. The frame I'm sure, and the fuel tank. Honestly, the fuel tank might be the biggest roadblock. I think you should make one out of aluminum and then sell them for dirt cheap to everyone else! :D

It's built on the 125 chassis, so it feels super light. I'm picking up the bike in that picture to test out for a couple weeks - should be fun! Talking to Dave, the bike sounds awesome, though he said it needed a JD jet kit and an insert pulled out of the exhaust to run right but now it's good. Stay tuned for a full test...

I think this would be a great woods bike.

What about bottom end on a 250f motor? I would be concerned about doing nasty hillclimbs.

Other than that, it would be fun to rail through the trees.

With a 290 kit the bike will be awesome. That would be one of the first mods I'd do to that thing if I owned it. Suspension reworked, Rekluse Pro, Motosportz damper, 290 kit some nice guards and yee haw...awesome!

skid,

No, I was thinking if someone could get an FSE250 frame and any other specfic parts, he could build a WR/YZ 250F motor, and finnish it up with hardware from a 2-stroke GG. They are only building a limited number due to the engines available, but would they build replacement frames?
