Hi to all. just picked up my first Gas Gas 1997 EC250.
From having a 1987 Honda XR200 since 1988 this ec250 is awsome.
Picked it up on craigslist in southern MO for $1000. The 1st owner set it up for hare scrambles.
Thanks
Michael Clarkridge,AR

Sweet! Welcome aboard! You'll not a forum with a group of enthusiasts like this one. Always willing to help sort rider & bike issues.

Welcome to the GasGas family!

I called the fellow about your bike, but you beat me to it. Congratulations!
How far are you from Brock Creek?
I hope to get to ride with you soon. If I can help you in any way, just let me know.

Welcome aboard. If you've got questions about jetting, ask Jake :D
For everything else you'll find a multitude of good advice and helping hands.

I am 118 miles from brock creek. I am at the northern tip on Norfork Lake at the AR MO state line. That bike was a good deal. Everybody around hear asks what is a Gas Gas.
I tell them it's like a souped up KDX250 lol.

Maybe we can get together at Brock Creek (220 miles north for me), or further south at the Ross Property. I need to get this '04 300 sorted out before I tackle Brock Creek again. Those hills and rocks demand attention. (But I'm working on it, so it shouldn't be long.)

Ride any of the AXC events? One of my sons is doing photography at the events.

I don't do any events. I'm 38 married with 6yr and 9 yr old boys. Moved here in 2003 and haven't ridden anywhere around here cause we are so far away from any decent place to ride.

To get to good "large area" singletrack trails from Smackover, I have the choice of traveling 95 miles west northwest to Bear Creek (Lake Greeson), 100 miles northwest to Bismarck (Ross Foundation Property), 220 miles north to Brock Creek, or up to 200 miles south to one of the areas in Louisiana. (Used to go 140 miles south to Breezy Hills, and hope to be able to ride there again one day soon.)

It's always been worth it for me to drive, however long, in order to take the family riding.

There is a private trail on Sturkey Road near Salem, where the Arkansas Hare Scrambles Championship Series holds an event. The owner might allow you to come over and bring the kids for a day of singletrack fun. You can get his contact information from the AHSCS schedule on their web site. Also, one of the Arkansas Dirt Riders lives near Batesville, and has a trail at his property. PM me to get his contact information.

Good Riding!
Jim

That Chadwick ORV area is 90 miles from me. Just don't know how friendly the trails would be for these 2 little dirt boogers.

I haven't been to Chadwick since they started closing down the really gnarly single track trails that we had previously been racing on. If you are careful, and look before you head too far down a trail, you and the boys should be fine. There are still some hills and such available (It is all rocky hills.), but a lot of it has concrete tiles on the trail and nothing should "trap" you before you can get a look at it. Stay ahead of the boys, just to be sure, till you and they know where you are going.

Good Family Riding!
