Hi any top tips on fitting a new seat cover on my 03. Got a blackbird double gripper joby.
Is it worth putting some decant strong ish tape over the lip of the seat to help against rubbing

Cheers grant

It won't hurt to put some fabric tape on the sharp edges.
Heat up the seat cover in your clothes drier before installing it. When it cools off, it be nice and tight.

there are a few good videos on youtube. watch a few and decide which you think will be best

If you do not have an air powered/industrial stapler try to get the best staple gun you can and press it down as hard as you can on a good firm base before you fire off the staple. Also only use short staples (i seem to remember 6mm being the max) or your seat may be too grippy and possibly prevent the production of gassergrant jr

All good suggestions so far. I will add a couple more: I staple the ends first making sure it is pulled fairly tight and centered. Most seats have a dip from front to back so when you pull the cover tight it will raise the middle of the seat cover off the foam but that's ok. I then do about three staples in the middle of each side pulling it tight. I then go back to the ends putting 2-3 staples at a time in an alternating pattern : left front, right front, left rear, right rear. If wrinkles develope as you work back to the center just remove the center staples and pull it tighter and staple again. I used 3/8" (10mm) staples the last time (because they were all I had on hand) but had to carefully angle them when stapling the ends so they wouldn't stick through. A regular stapler will leave some staples not seated firmly but that's ok just tap them on in with a hammer (do not wait till the end of the job to use the hammer - seat each staple before going on). Hope this helps. - Ken
