Hi guys I'm new to gasgas and just purchased a near new 2015 ec250 e start over here in Australia. Being a mechanic I wasn't happy with the way the previous owner had put it together so I pulled it down and went right over it.
So what are some of the things I need to look out for or do to improve the bike. I've already need to play around with the float level in the carb as it keep leaking out the overflow while on the side stand. I also moves the map switch higher up to keep it away from water and to better protected.
Loving the bike so far Iv only travelled 20klm form a total of 90 on the bike.

Hi and welcome to the family!

If the bike is running fine, and you are loving it ... why do you want to "improve" it ? Just ride it!

I'd do the usual, change the fluids, grease the bearings, etc, ride it hard for a while, then see what needs to be done.

Not so much improve the bike overall but things I need to do to make sure I don't get into trouble out riding the trails Like what swazi_matt mentioned. Over time issue arise I'm just trying get on top of them before it's to late. The float still needs a little tweaking as fuel strickles out while on the stand and it doesn't rev out cleanly

Thanks guys, ive been a fan of gasgas for awhile but never brought one due to lack of dealers and parts availability. This one was too good to pass up on.
The jetting is stock 175 main, 42 pilot, n1ef needle. Im going to get the float level right first before playing with the jetting. It runs fine if I thrash it but as soon as I easy up it(trail pace) it doesn't rev clean over 3/4 throttle.

Hello from Norway, and welcome!

I am very happy with my 15 model. It's a 200, but apart from that I guess they are pretty much the same bike. Here are some points that I have done to mine, many of them to avoid destroying expensive parts:
*As I am old and slow, I have revalved the fork to get it softer / plusher. The Reiger rear shock is very good as it is, so I have never revalved that, just serviced it a couple of times.
*I have put on a Lectron carb, mostly because I had it from my previous bike and am very fond of it.
*I use T-Lock (a Swedish competitor to Tubliss) to get tubeless wheels. Very nice, as you save some rotating mass compared to mousse. I usually run low pressure, 5 - 10 psi.
*Bulletproof design radiator braces. I need them from time to time. Last weekend I crashed and even bent the brace a little. Can't say how damaged the radiator would have been without a brace, most likely I would have had to replace it.
*I have removed all switches from the handlebar, and run only a stop switch that is integrated in the brake pump clamp. I tend to wreck my switches nd they are expensive. I have placed the map switch on a radiator hose, as some bikes have from the factory. Mine was originally placed on the handlebar.
*I have also removed (or rather not replaced the completely destroyed) tail light. Gets destroyed sooner or later.
*Short Jitsie levers.
*Aluminium handguards.
*Last winter I bought an Enduro-Tech headlight. Expensive, but very good. I use it only during winter, during summer I run the OEM lamp (as it isn't dark outside when I ride).
*TM Design chain slider and chain guard. Lasts a lot longer than OEM, but are also more expensive.

I think you will be very happy with your 15 model. Mine has run approx 115 hours now and sure shows signs of being used, but no problems so far.

Welcome! GasGas makes awesome enduro bikes and I'm sure you'll start to love it!

If you want really good low end torque, I would suggest you to buy slide #6, the difference between original #7 and #6 is huge. Pulls almost like 300 now, super low end. My jetting is currently 182 main, 42 pilot and N3CJ needle. It's smooth, very good low and top end and does not take much fuel.

I wouldn't bother with a #6 slide for Australia. If you feel it needs more fuel off idle swap in a W diameter needle.

I've found for the 15 250's that 42 NEDW#2 175 (Suzuki OEM needle RM250) pulls strong and clean through the rev range. You can adjust the hit with the PV adjustment.

Thanks for all the tips guys. Ive only put 20k on it around a farm so im yet to get it out on the trails. Cant wait to test it out in some single track

With the above jetting you should be getting around 100km to the tank too. Stock needle has only ever got me 70-80kms at best.

I put the above setup into our local dealers 15. He sold it with the same setup and the new owner (lonetree on the forum) hasn't changed it as far as I know. Dealer dropped the same setup into his 17 250R with good results too. Just make sure the float is set as well.

From memory the float height by Keihin spec on the shallow bowl models is 6.5mm. Given the angle the carb sits in the chassis though I have found setting it to 7.5mm works a bit better and haven't had any starvation issues.

The old lean her over 45 degrees and wait for the fuel to come out the overflows gives a decent indication too.

Finally got out on the bike for a good 50k loop of mostly single track. More than happy with the way the bike performed. Front end felt alittle firm but il wait for it to bed in before I play with the clickers. The clutch also sqwarked afew times on take off. Il pull out the plates and soak them as the bike had been sitting for 18 months before I got it. Played with the carb before heading out. Set the float, my mate had a NEDJ needle so chucked it in. Bike went well and revved clean, it's still running rich and the plug is very black. Towards the end of the ride it was fuelling up at times and more noticeable with the map switch on low. Other than that I can't wait to throw the leg over again.

Welcome to the forum, I too recently bought a Gasser, and am loving it. I ride a lot of tight rocky 1st and 2 nd gear stuff so to get some of the harness out of the fork I took the pre load to 1 turn, I think the manual says 2.5. They now feel much better. Mybike was way rich when I got it but the guys on here helped me get it dialled. I have an NEDW needle and love it, that was the biggest improvement for me. Good luck and enjoy.
