Just getting back into the dirtbiking thing at the age of 40. The last bike I rode was about 7 years ago, an '87 CR500....I didnt so much ride it, more like held on and screamed like a little girl.
I did my research, knew my price range, and stumbled over a low hours, well maintained '05 Gasgas EC300. Dumped the old gas that was in it, mixed up some fresh stuff with Amsoil Dominator. Checked plug, changed tranny oil, cleaned air filter, loaded ' er up and went for a little one hour burn.
Thoughts.....love it. Love it. Now, the only other bike I can compare it too was that evil CR500, which I can't even come up with a proper witty comparison to.....this 300 is so smooth to ride, the power and torque at low RPM is awesome. Now, I just need some practice for the kind of riding I wanna do, just bushwacking and exploring the old fire and forestry roads around here........gonna be a wicked summer!

Just changed the 9volt battery last nite in the odometer, showed 856 kms..... and apparently this might be the original front tire. Pleasant surprise when I bought it, it has an LTR powervalve cover, too. Pretty sweet for an '05.......

Nice

Nice looking bike I'm partial to the blue myself
If you're going to do any of that bushwacking get yorself a set of barkbusters
I had one of those evil cr500s myself =d 2 trips to the hospital
The gasgas is a great bike
Enjoy

Thanks!
I only need a few things for it; first purchase will be a skidplate. Not sure about the barkbusters, heard a few stories of broken wrists and forearms by being caught between them and the bars. We'll see.

Well, I'll most likely 'goon' myself before too long. Got to use the Acerbis last nite, while going under a low blown down beetle-kill pine tree, rapped my lefthand knuckles pretty good. May go to barkbusters just cuz! God I love how this thing climbs in 3rd gear.......

I have an '05 300 as well. They're fantastic machines! I also have an LTR PV cover. I really scored with mine; it has the 50mm Zokes. I recently converted my ignition to the 2k-3 and cleaned up the jetting. That has made the bike very difficult to stall. I hope you can ride yours often. I'm sure you'll be impressed.
