hi all thanks for the acceptance to the forum. i am 37 from the uk. i have just bought my first enduro bike an EC250 but i also have a 300 head of the same year bike and was thinking in a few months i may fit the 300 head. i have read somewhere that the carb, exhaust, power valve etc are all the same apart from re jetting the carb.
somewhere i heard about a spacer for the reed valve.

has anyone done this before and if you could give me some direction or advice it would be much appreciated

The exercise will cost a decent chunk of money by the time you have bought all the parts, several hundred pounds dependent on the model year.

If it were me, I would flog the 300 head and buy 20 litres of Exol Optima Racing 2-stroke oil and enjoy riding your bike. This oil is so cheap and at least as good or better than all the stuff you see in the main dealers at 15-20 pound per litre. Mix at 50:1 and your engine will run as sweet as a nut.

It's made in the UK, fully synthetic and very clean burning. Have a shufti at this, 65 quid for 20 litres with free delivery. 3.25 quid per litre. No Brainer especially if you have a couple of mates to split it with:

If you already have the head, and you were planning on doing a top end already, then the PV should be able to be moved from the 250 into a 300 cylinder.

The CDI should be alright, but may be a bit angry on a 300.

You'd still need to source a 300 cylinder which will cost you money.. if the current 250 jug needs to be replated it could be a justifiable option.

But in saying that, I agree with the other opinions. Ride it as a 250! You'll love it.

What year is it? I have a 2010 300cc cylinder sitting in the shed.

Hey RudolfHucker...I might give the Exol oil a try but was just wondering...are you employed by Exol or just on commission? ;)

Looks good value and a good spec... I'll consider giving it a try when I return home end of March...have a couple of months in Goa/India first...:)

T be honest lads you might be right. There is nothing wrong with the 250 top end. I just thought with me already having the head, cylinder, piston, rings etc for a 300 I would give it ago.
It is a 1999 ec250

Why not continue running it as a 250cc until the piston and rings are worn, then in stead of purchasing a new piston kit convert it to a 300cc. :)
