o3 ec250 jetting

does anybody have a good jetting set up for an 03 ec250? mine runs ok, but lets off loads of splooge. i dont need it to go scary fast with insane amounts of power, just want to clean up the running a little. im running 40:1 yamalube 2r, and id like to keep it that way (its really easy to mix. pour into a 5 gallon can, fill.) any advice is appreciated!

I'd recommend reading through the jetting database in this forum, should be something that fits. Important factors will be altitude, ambient temperature, and engine size. Other factors you may need to tweak for include brand/model of pipe, engine modifications and riding style. Pick one that matches your situation and then keep an eye on the plug for a rich or lean condition.

to the best of my knowledge im running whatever is stock. there are a few setups im looking at, one is a 42 pilot, a 178 main, and a cck needle. supposed to be very smooth and controllable, good for a noob like me. but there isnt all that much for the 03 for jetting setups in the database. the 06 has a no6 slide, as compared to no7s on the others that ive seen.

Look through the thread, you will find my settings updated, I am going to post them right now.

For too much spooge you want to lean it out - the easiest/fastest/cheapest thing is to drop the needle (raise the clip) one clip at a a time and go for a quick spin on that to see what it's like.

If you don't mind buying a couple of pilot jets my advice would be to get one 3 sizes smaller than your current and one 6 sizes smaller than current and try them (closest size first).

IMHO You will get less spooge when the bike accelerates from low speed smoothly, and sounds smooth.

I think that's a little much considering how much a difference one up or down in pilot size makes on my bike. I would just get the next three leaner, it's not like they are $50 per.

By 3 sizes I meant e.g. starting with 45 next size 42 (45-3) then 39 (45-6). Maybe you mean available sizes which may be different?

spooge

There has been alot of posts on here regarding spooge. Does it really matter? You use your bike off road, it gets dirty, you clean it off, including the spooge! Someone posted in here that no engine ever failed because of over lubrication. Sounds about right to me. if you run at varying altitudes and temperatures you will never jet it perfectly for all conditions. Why run the risk of running too lean or under lubricated resulting in big bills and time wasted? It's only my uneducated and simple opinion but spooge is good. Isn't it? (7 years and counting with no rebuild on my ec250. Can't be too far wrong!)
