2018 EC250 squish, jetting & pistons

I spoke with Kelsy at RK-Tek.

He went over the options and I decided to send him my head to do a conventional mod on my stock head.

He laughed at the ?rosin core solder impression.?

He said, ?We know what we?re doing. Just measure the deck height with the piston at top dead center using the crank, not the kicker.?

I?ll try to get it to him next week. He anticipates a 1-day flip.

His response concerns me.

Most GG bikes do not use flat top pistons and he is assuming everyone has the tools and skill to make the measurement accurately. I would send him the crushed solder so he can also adjust the squish band for the piston dome angle.

We discussed all of that on the call. It went on for many minutes.

I also plan on sending him the solder impressions.

He says deck height and knowing the piston is all they need. They?ve done gobs of them.

Gibbut metions there are 2 differant pistons. Is anyone able to give information on what brands are what. I?m not game to have the squish done until I know I can get the same piston for rebuilds
Thx Wuz

I spoke with Dave at TSP who said he has had one of these mystery pistons in his hands. He can't get any answers, so I can't either. Essentially GG pistons have always had a dome height of around 3.7mm. Measure the dome in your engine and it most likely will be.

All my spares measure the same. 2 x used wossners, the S3 in my 2018 model, and the S3 I have ready for piston time. I usually stick with the Wossners after the stock piston anyway.

And then each top end, spend the extra 2 mins to slowly turn the engine over, take a squish sample.. and then be happy everything is still as it should be.

Thx for the reply.
Sounds like there may be a bad batch used ion the production line.
This is my 1st gasgas (2018. GP250) and I had every intention of measuring the squish before having any work done. Was concerned about getting the same crown height after seeing the comment in the opening post. I?ve been a fan of wossner for many years and they would have been my 1st choice for a replacement.
