A friend of mine bought a 2004 GasGas 200. When he removed the rear shock he found it had a rattle inside of it so he brought it to me to disassemble and find the rattle.
When I took the shock apart I found that inside the shock reservoir there was a 6 mm screw that was about 2.5 to 3 inches long. The screw was bent kind of like an S.
It appears to me that someone had the shock apart and possibly threaded the screw into the center of the reservoir piston and was using it to set the piston location. I would guess they forgot and left it in there. Once the shock went through it's stroke the screw bent. Then vibration probably just unscrewed it so it came loose from the piston and just rattled around in there.
I've tried to move the piston but it's frozen in place.
Right now I'm guessing that the shock will need a new reservoir and piston.
So, where is the best place in the U.S. to buy individual parts for this shock?
Thanks,
Layton
