Oil drain plugs that work!

Gas Gas makes an amazing product, but the oil drain plugs are something in need of a re-design. Call me crazy but aluminum punched out with an allen head over half its size is prone to failure. Take this example, in Canada we have a square Roberson drive, in the USA they have the "stripped" phillips drive. LOL. But to redeem my American friends phillips drive,Dave (aka mxdj2003) has solved the problem for 20 US dollars. That gets you a steel hex head drain and filler plug as well as brass washers, yes it also has a magnet inserted for the plug for your convenience.Great job Dave! :)

On the older bikes, the alloy plug was sealed with an o-ring. This required no more than snugging it down with a hex key, not much torque. Now they seemed to have gone to crush washers that need more torque to seal. I just use the o-ring, no problems. By in bulk for a few bucks and replace at every oil change.
 
I change my oil very often.
I use the stock plug with the copper colored crush washer.
I just make sure I spray water up in the skid plates drain plug hole to clean the hex out of debris always before changing oil if muddy. I only use a T handle allen to snug and never have a problem with leaking. I change my oil very often.

I think thats excellent there is another option out there for those that need it.

I have stripped it out, just use a tapered hex ezy -out made for getting
out hex cap screws, Mcmaster-Carr or auto parts store has the tool...

I just stuff some foam between the skid plate and bottom of the engine
and it keeps mud off and practically guarantees the plug will not fall out.
