Old to new style CDI connection

Here's another one of those weird things I want to try :o

I'm wondering if it's possible to make (or even buy) an adapter to use the new style CDI on an older bike. The new ones have a multipin connector that just snaps into the CDI.. the old ones have one double connector, and a few 1/4 inch spades and bullet connectors.

Should wire up easy, if I knew what pin was what, right?

Anything is possible, ive just bought a load of waterproof pin plugs to make my own custom loom as the original one was "isa like luigi's spaghetti" only with nasty soldered connections with no insulation.

i guess all you'll need is a plug from the new style CDI with a bit of spare wire and off you go get crimping, there pretty cheap. it worth a shot for kicks

Here's the JAE Electronics part numbers (hat tip to Anders):

CONN SOCKET HOUSING MX23A18SF1
CONN FRONT CAP 18POS SOCKET HSNG MX23A18XF1
CONN DUMMYPIN FOR MX23A SERIES M120-55780
CONN SOCKET 16-22AWG CRIMP MX23A M23S05K351

Don't know which country you're in, but I got them from RS electronics in the UK. For sorting out knackered looms, I've had good luck with japanese bullet connectors from AES in the UK:

The GG harness is expensive if you buy it new. Options - find a used one part out. This one is cheap!!! http://www.ebay.com/itm/2015-gasgas...ash=item41abdd63ec:g:A1QAAOSwintXSbyU&vxp=mtr

For my 2000 XC300, I had a new dual map CDI then I bought a KTM CDI plug and converted it to the GG harness by matching the pins to the GG wiring diagram.

Awesome, thank you for the information. Since you have the exact same year and model, can you provide that wiring diagram.. I've always used one from an 2005 and it was usually close enough. For as simple as my bike is (all AC, apart from the horn) it was mostly unnecessary. For the CDI though.. that's a different animal.
