so I cut down the plunger bolt on the rear brake. When I did it I eyeballed the brake pedal at level to the foot peg. Unfortunately this is too low as now it seems I have to push the pedal down way to much when standing. i used up all the thread and it made it somewhat better but ... still not a good long term solution. The parts break down would makeit appear that there isn't any way to adjust from the top nut .. is this the case?? There seems to be quite a bit of freeplay in the pedal. if I could get rid of that it would be much better. Is this possible or is this free play built into the system. If i have to replace the plunger bolt ... simply repair or pain in the butt??

2011 Honda crf 150 to the rescue ...
just in case anyone does the same ...
the rear brake cleavis from a crf 150 is longer than the stock gasser unit. you'll have to splay it out a bit to get the beefier foot brake lever in it and drill out the pin hole to fit the gasser pin, but the extra length will give you your adjustability back. it also looks like the plunger bolt from the crf will work but I did not need to find out as the cleavis did the trick. $24 for both!!
