Hey gents,

Im kinda torn here and would love some insight. Last year i picked up a 2011 EC250 that had no spark. The bike is certainly used but in good shape. motor seems solid. I was hoping to fix it up but money is tight and i am looking to sell. My question is this: Am i better off parting it out or fixing it up and selling a whole? I would like it gone in the next 2 months.

my uneducated guess is you will end up with the same $$ eventually but probably also end up with a lot of unwanted parts taking up space.

The advantage of the 2011 is that it still had the lower seat height which is a plus when selling - attractive option for shorter people and a solid bike so nice for youngsters still growing, women etc

You will end up with a lot of parts and will take time plus packing and shipping parts.

Where are you located?

How much would you want as is?

Fixing the ignition issue should be relatively easy to do and cost between ($0 and $175) and take 15 min - 3 hrs).

Search this site and download the shop manual. Where are you located?

No spark issue can be as simple as a loose ground. Which I have seen a number of times here over the years. I would try chasing that down a little bit before throwing in the towel.

No spark can also be tied to a damaged kill switch or kill switch wiring.

And don't forget the ignition switch. It grounds the ignition when it is OFF but when the switch fails it can also ground when ON.

Unplugging the switch will allow the bike to kickstart, but the normal ON circuit is needed for the estart to work.

I have had this happen to me in the past.. It was intermittent - engine would cut out as chafed wire would contact the frame.

Wow i didnt know i got all these messages back. turns out i wasnt getting notified.
i certainly agree that a bad ground can be causing it.

I decided to take a look at the wiring and realized that the PO had ripped sections of wire out. There was no wire connecting the regulator, headlights or kills witch. On top of the the switch for high/low beam is missing.

I got a new harness off of GreenlandMX but it seems to have more wires than needed. I need to figure this out. I looked at the electrical diagram but im still lost. Can someone confirm if there actually is a high beam low beam switch?

What 2011 model do you have? Estart or kick? Was it originally sold in the US? A European harness may have some extra wires.
