What the golly gosh (insert profanity) are you on about? Hand in your 'man' badge.

I have found that this tool works well for both metric and standard/imperial wrist pin clips.

I am immune to your disdain....lol, actually thats very funny, I'll have to use that one. Allow me to retort(using my booming Samuel L. Jackson voice), I was going on about this,

I'm sure you don't need it because you guys down under, except Jacobi, probably install piston circlips with the carved legbone of a koala bear...lol..:)

Can I still keep my man badge if I admit that the tool looks pretty cool?:D

Haha!

I don't mind doing it either way! Don't know where F5 woulda found a koala bone though. Must have swam across the lake :D

Buxtools one is what I have, and I must admit that its pretty usefull at times. The Gas Gas pistons are pretty easy normally, but the ktm ones are recessed deeper into the piston and its just a bit nicer being able to line it up and drive it home compared to wrestling around above a stuffed crankcase.

Lol...is your tool an 18mm?

Most 250cc 2-strokes: Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, Suzuki, Yamaha, etc. Also most KTM 300cc.

Checking the website, thats the one I would have ordered many moons ago. I see they have a disclaimer on the Vertex 300 pistons too. I'm pretty sure I cracked a sleeve installing one of those, which they replaced for free (inc international postage). Good company to deal with, and works as advertised. Can still not totally effortless, and if you set the depth wrong, or don't lube it well it can be hard to push in.

Thanks Jakobi! I looked at the Vertex disclaimer. I'm going to install a Vertex so I guess I'll need to find a different model or brand. Thanks for the head up on the oversized vertex c clips.

I don't know if it applies to the Gas Gas pistons, or just the ktm ones. Might be worth asking.

OK the tool does look pretty cool, but I've bought a ring-set for les than that.

Heck I've bought 50cc pistons for less if you include postage.

a decent grabby pair of pliers, thumb on side that goes in first, curl & feed in & -jobs a goodun- as the Brits would say. Obviously some glasses & a rag over the cases is a sterling idea. Bigger pistons are easier than the 50s, a relative joy.
