Hey guys my 2000 ec 250 has a hole in the plastic tank in the black part at the top.. Is this top part removable if not anyone give me any info on how to fix it??? Its been caused by someone putting a screw in it "DOH" any advice would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks in advance for any replies
Cheers luke

You cannot remove the black part.

You can take a soldering gun and melt some black tie straps into the hole.
There may be a black plastic insert in the screw hole that would need to be removed if you're patching the hole.

Brilliant idea thanks :-) how do you mean by black plastic insert in the hole??? From the looks of it the previous owner has just screwed into the tank to hold the plastic on..

At the factory mounting hole, there is a plastic insert thatthe tank is moulded around. You will have to take a pick and pry it out.

Rabbitist, you don't have those inserts so no worry. (edit...) I guess I should clarify,, on the older tanks the screws went right into the plastic without using any type of insert. My bikes are the same.

Rab,

I've heard rumors that almost every Gas Gas has that dreaded plastic hole thing in that exact place. What you're probably seeing is someone trying to plug it using a wood screw. Seems to work, and it holds the tank in there pretty good as well. :D

thanks guys very helpful it currently has some glue from a hot glue gun in there with a puncture repair patch over also it was a wood screw that was in there (gone too deep) seems to be fixed for now :)
cheers luke
