last year I did a top end on my 300. It was my first top end ever ..
without getting into all the details ... it did not go smoothly. For some strange reason the rings would not let piston down into the jug. I went through all the usual rigamoroll etc. etc. After a few calls out to g fasters where I got my parts ... a new piston and ring were sent. I'm sure they were like .."man some people should not work on their own bikes" They asked me to send out the old piston and the new rings that should have worked so they could have a look at them. I assume to make sure this would not be a recurring problem.
anyway I get a message to call go fasters yesterday... I'm thinking unpaid bill maybe .. turns out they finally got around to looking at my piston and rings. they could not figure out why it would not work either. it was nice to find out it wasn't anything I was doing wrong... even more impressive that an outfit responsible for national parts distribution would check into something like that and then call you back with the results!!
Not sure why it took almost a year ...
I an only imagine someone was fishing around the racks for some part and came up with a box with a used piston in it.
"Hey is there reason we're keeping this used piston??"
"oh crap! yeah! damn! lemme see that .... I was wondering where I put that!!"
Keep up the good work gentlemen!!
