Q Stealth vs. Turbind Core II

I have on my '07. No real performance difference on that bike, but IMO the size and weight of the Stealth is obnoxious for a 2stroke silencer. It gets even heavier when the packing quickly soaks up all the trapped spooge from the spark arrestor. And most important to me is that its a big lever on the subframe if it hits in a crash. The TC2 is smaller, lighter, and only louder at lower revs before the Stealth's packing gets soaked. I prefer a straight silencer . I got a Cannon Racecraft from GoFasters for my '12. The fit is a little off, and the removable spark arrestor section looks pretty crude, but its a very nice unit otherwise. I fixed the warts and it works great. Seems to have really helped the lower mid on bike, tucks in well and is not real loud.

I'm trying to resist that urge, but this is always the time of year that I tend to blow a wad of cash. Too much time to think about it and not enough time to get outside to have some fun or get something done.

I wonder what the smart carb and a less restrictive exhaust would do for my bike

If anyone with a 12 or 13 wants to come over and ride some private trails just give me a shout. ;)

I would do that fairly soon. What's the ZIP Code? I'll see how far it is.

I had them both on my 10. Got rid of the q-stealth because it was 2 long and bent my subframe because of the leverage offered by the stealth. I switched to the turbine core and its a lot lighter( not that one would notice on the bike) not any louder but tucks in wayyyy better and in my opinion much neater than the stealth. I didn't notice any performance difference except for it takes way less damage now!

Unfortunately Trevor proved my point. Get rid of that POS. The Cannon does not mount with the isolator grommets like the FMF. It just comes with holes in the brackets, and the front hole required a little elongation. I did not mount it directly to the subframe, I used isolators similar to what I mounted my shrouds with only thinner. I also had to trim a few mm off the stinger. Now it fits perfect, no issues. It came with this half ass made baffle/SA that I scrapped. I made a simple core extension from cross drilled SS tubing and added packing. The core dia is slightly larger than an FMF or Messico and I suspect this helps the low to mid power. Its easy to service and other than the weird baffle very nicely made from aluminum and stainless. If I do need an SA for any reason, I can swap my core extension for the OEM baffle in minutes, as it will pass the stick test. At this time its either this or the Leo Vince, and thats a bit large too as well as expensive.

4.5 hours. I probably will have to wait until after the first of the year. If I can get a weekend free before then, I will let you know.

How much riding do you have over there?

4.5 hours is a long haul. I don't have all that much riding, but I like to think what I have is good. I have 80 acres with probably a 20 minute loop including some descent hill climbs, creek, single track, 1/2 mile grass track and some open stuff.

I'll post a video one of these days to show the property a little bit. I'd like to have a group ride sometime.

Glenn,
The SA on the Cannon is a screen, correct?
Since I must have a SA, I'm gathering that the best option for a smaller, lighter, still-not-too-loud, replacement for the giant Q-Stealth is the Turbine-Core II.
Is that correct?
Thanks.

No, Cannon does not have a screen. It has this weird hand made baffle with a small diverter in the exhaust flow path. If it didn't look like total junk the way it was welded up (holes, crude grinding, etc.) I might have tried it. It also looks like it would trap a cup of sponge. There are two screws on the endcap, and I can install this easy if I need to pass a stick test, but everything I do now does not require an SA and if they do they almost never check. For an '11 just get the FMF TC2, I had no choice. I called FMF and they have no plans to build anything else but the Stealth for the '12+ bikes.

So there is definitely a difference between the '11 and '12 silencer mounting/dimensions? I found what I thought was a steal on a gnarly/tc2 combo listed on ebay, but it is listed as good for 07-12 EC250/300 applications. Prob incorrect...

Definately different, don't believe it. You could also cut the Stealth up and remove the SA/shorten it, but your still stuck with the girth. The Cannon works very well, nice power. I just put the junk SA on the shelf and extended the silencer tube section.
