Looking at flushing and replacing the antifreeze. what is the best method. here's what it looks like with the cap off.

Not sure how old the current antifreeze is and if it is engine ice.

Does your engine oil look milky? If so I think you have an internal oil / coolant leak. Maybe the water pump seal.

I wonder if you can drain the system and refill it with some soap and water to clean it out. I would not run it too long as it will probably foam and not provide good cooling, but it should help you clean out the oil and then rince it several times to remove the soap.

If they aren't really bad, I just remove the drain plug and keep poring distilled water into the filler until it is running out crystal clear.

Drain it and refill with half distilled water and half vinegar. Run it until it warms up and drain the mixture. The vinegar will clean out the system. The pic is what came out of my radiator.

I like engine ice. My bikes have never over heated with it. Maybe they would have never over heated with something else, but who knows.
