Rear brake position

So I took my dremel and cut off some of the threaded piece on the rear brake reservoir to lower the position of the stock brake pedal. The bushing in the pedal is now demolished so I put on a Hammerhead pedal which is sweet, but now the position is too low, how can I extend that threaded rod or replace it?

Hammerhead has a brake pedal for the Gas Gas'?

You can use a barrel nut extend your push rod.

It's a YZ pedal but you need a machinist buddy to make the bushing for it. Gasgasman, by chance do you know the size of barrel nut? Is it a part to order from another brand, or a trip to the hardware store? Thanks guys

If it is like my 2001, you want M8 threads on the barrel nut (a.k.a. threaded coupling). The item illustrated above is nice with those tapered ends. The local hardware store probably won't have those nice tapered ends.

Does the bushing for the YZ pedal go at the pivot/mount or at the clevis? If it goes at the clevis, it might be just as easy to retrofit an aftermarket YZ clevis (like Fasst Company, but there are others too).

I suppose, if you want to push him, your machinist buddy could make you an extended (extra tall) clevis that would eliminate the need for the barrel nut repair. That might cost you some beer.

Or, here's an idea...
if your stock clevis is like the one on my 2001, it is a three piece set with a stamped steel clevis piece that is clamped onto the master cylinder push rod with two nuts (one above, one below).

Maybe you could weld a threaded coupling (just a tall nut, like the barrel nut but without the cool tapers) to the top of the clevis piece, making a one-piece unit that is extended enough to reach your modified pushrod. You don't need the locking action of the 2nd nut because the brake pedal keeps things from spinning out of adjustment.

Did the adjustment part fit without mods? so all you had to fab was the bushing/bolt for the mount. That looks really nice and adjustable!

Just google "barrel nut".
Only problem with a barrel nut is, the threads are the same on both sides.
Turning the barrel nut won't extend/retract the push rod-one side would have to be left handed threads.

Then just use a standard threaded coupling.

<edit> BTW, turning this won't adjust the length either. You'd have to turn the other pieces. But you don't need special threads.

One of these would solve your problem. With the canter section cut out you would have your adjustment up and down.Just need to find the right size.
