Rear tire adjustment question?

So I notice on my 2014 Gas Gas 300 and similar late models, the mud flap sticks out far from the inner swing arm. Compared to other brands where the mud flap usually rests on the inner swing arm. To clear the mud flap, I need to adjust the rear to the last notch on the swing arm or the rear tire rubs and shreds the flap.

Is this normal? I don't see any adjustability with the mud flap. Is my tire adjusted too far rearward or is this OK?

Mine sits like that too, though not as far out as yours. I have to remove it when I use a paddle paddle tire.

Maybe try removing it and heating up the mounting tab with a heat gun and nudging it in a little?

Another idea

Heating up the flap and bending it is a great idea.

I ran into this problem last weekend when I put a new chain and sprockets on.

I cut a rubber grommet in half and then superglued each piece above the hole on the backside of the mudflap. That way when you attach it with the screws, it angles towards the front of the bike and hits the swing arm.
