I am looking at replacing the plastics on my 2002 300. I am going with the 2003-2006 style, as that's what is on the bike right now. My question is, what color should I choose? Red and blue are tied for second, and yellow is a distant third. They all cost the same, so now it's down to opinion. Nothing really jumps at me, so any advice, arguments, opinions, and/or pictures are appreciated.

did you look into the 2011 kits? seems to be a heck of a deal

I can get a complete plastic kit shipped for less than $300 versus the full transformation kit for $700 or more. I'm cheap, plus I don't want to get too far into this beater before I decide to move on to the next great project. I do like my Gasser, it's just that I don't like it "THAT" much. Not yet, anyway. I have other things to upgrade, like wheel sets, tires, gasoline, etc before I spring for that kind of bling. Trust me, I was looking at the kit long and hard, but I can't see myself with that pretty of a bike that I ride 12 times a year.

I believe that if I make it beautiful that I will be skeered to ride it properly. Therefore cheap and utilitarian.

If you can find green shrouds, I have some extra 94-98 Kawi plastic:D Personally, I like the red. I've had blue. I'm fond of the yellow, but prefer the red. I still have set of beat up "PINK" stuff from my 2001...The "pink" CR.

Red is nice, looks good and seems to hold up the best. A red and black bike is always my favorite. White ages very fast.:(

Red is creeping up in my opinion, just because it's different than anything else in my garage. Well, except for the three XR100's, but those are different. Or not. Whatever.

But yeah, red is moving into the slight lead. Anyone have pics of their bike to share in either of the three colors? 2003-2006 only, of course.

i bought that 01 in 08.. it was brand new.. knew i better take a picture bcause that was as nice as it would ever look..
the 03 red... is the guy i bought the 01 from.. that picture is last year.. he is a m/c dealer who has a BUNCH of cool personal bikes.. that is his favorite ( or so he tells me ) it might have 10 hrs on it.. ltr susp, scotts dampner.. he told me i could buy it when i took that picture.. 4500.00.. i thought seriously about it, but i could tell in talking to him how much he liked it.. it is amazing to see.. in this same shop is a BRAND new fse 400 that looks as nice as the 250...
he is a neat guy.. glad to have him as a friend..

Both those bikes are beautiful. The blue color seems to hold up well also. I went ahead and got blue for my '05 300 and red for my '03 250. I wish I could find just the fender decals at a reasonable price. Would dress them up a bit.

Do you have any pics of your bikes? I am leaning toward the red, but if you say the blue holds up well I can be persuaded. However, that red bike looks pretty sharp, although I don't think mine would look like that after ten hours on the meter...

My 300 is(was) Blue. I think the Red cleans up nicer, in the long run. The Blue is sharp when new. After it's broken in...not so much. JMO

The shrouds on mine came from someone here on the forum. I think they are 07-09. The front & rear fenders on mine are from a kx250. The side panels are 06, they are the only new gasgas plastic I bought & dirt bike supply got them for me. I'm planning on a new style crf 450 front fender/# plate when this one is scratched up a little more. I'd love the conversion kit but out of my price range for now.

I am leaning toward that route right now. I want a new rear fender and want new graphics on the shrouds. I just put new number plates on the airbox covers, so I want to keep those until the vinyl is destroyed. Front fender is the newest thing on the bike. I don't need new plastics, but since the kit is reasonably priced I could swing that fairly easily. Nothing like having a beater set of plastics and a shiny new "look at me" set for those fun run times.

I am leaning away from the greenlandmx kit as that's $500 which is twice the Gofasters kit. With the Gofasters kit I could get another set of tires and still be ahead of the transformation kit.

Oh, these first world problems I have to deal with!
