Running In/First Service Procedure?

Hi All

I picked up a new old model ec200. I have now put four hours on it(Approx). One hour and 30 break in plus a hare and hound. I have never had a new bike before. What should I do to it for its first service? I have replaced the gearbox oil and filter.

What things should I check/grease etc?

yes do a full service - oil, air filter (possibly) plug, especially if you need to sort out your jetting - sort out jetting if you more than sea level.

Then go through all the bolts to make sure that everything is tight (my kick start lever almost fell off on the second ride!)

You can also go through things looking at grease, I started and was pleasantly surprised that there was grease where it was supposed to be!

Enjoy the new bike ... you will now never want to buy second hand again!

I cant get over how used a NEW bike looks after its first ride, Im never buying new again.Lol . Its first race was an extreme mud infested hare and hound (I crashed a lot). What about greasing linkages, swingarm etc?

I know the feeling - second ride - dented headder pipe, third ride i snapped off the gear pedal and those black swingarms do not like rocks.

So my recommendation to you is P3 exhaust guard, hyde skidplate, swingarm guards and front disk protector ... that is if you ride lots of sharp pointy rocks

I think the feeling of getting on a spanking new bike far outweighs the tears that come with the first scratches!

Any recommendations on the swingarm guards and front disk guard?

I would go with hyde swingarm guards and front disk guard www.hydedevelopments.co.za or www.hydedevelopments.com although www.psp-racing.com makes a nice machined guard like the topar ones. the hyde swingarm guards are for the 2009 models, but with a little bit of drilling you can get it to fit nicely, and because they are black they do not spoil the look of the bike

I also forgot to mention a radiator guards a def must I ordered my bike with the guards because i know one silly fall and your radiators could be toast!

thanks for info. I ordered a carbon pipe guard and crd rad guard. Any good front disc guards?

ok looks like that is rear guards

Hyde works fine for general stuff and as i have never had an issue with the front disk getting damaged i guess it serves the purpose. The hydes do however protect the fork bottoms nicely - these got quite a beating on my last bike!
