Sachs Fork - For the record

I recently picked up a 2010 EC250 race edition, and came off a 2008 EC250 dealer edition.

THE SUSPENSION IS AWESOME!

After all the complaining about the fork I was concerned that I might not perform well. But, as I expected it works great.

Is it stiff? No! The first thing I did was put 4.4 fork springs in. The 4.2s are way to soft for anyone over 170lbs. I weigh 175lbs and like the 4.4s (yes that is for offroad). I think some of the people who are complaining about the for may be too far down in the stroke, causing harshness.

Now I am not saying the fork is soft either, but it really does work well, and I think it is much better than the Marzocchi. It does like to be pushed hard, and gets smoother with speed.

For the record I am a A class rider. I recently did the rockpile enduro and got silver both days in E2A(but was withing 30seconds of gold both days)

If you are at a similar skill / speed level I am confident you will find that the suspension is everything you expect from a gasser.
 
I don't think it's ever been a question of quality, just familiarity. The Sachs has an uncommon shim size, that's all.
 
The 2009s are a different story. The forks on my 2009 EC250 racing had 0.46 springs in it and ridiculously stiff valving (good for a 200 pound fast motocrosser). No question the sachs are good quality (though the 7mm shims are weird) but at least in 2009 GasGas screwed up on the settings.
