Sachs fork tube caps with rebound screw

Well, I made the mistake that so many people warned you about. I'm now looking for a 48mm Sachs fork rebound screw. I'm assuming I'll have to buy the entire cap with fork screw. Anyone have any advise on where to go? Has anyone ever fixed the brass screw with success?

I had mine repaired. Used some silver solder on the threads and then ran a die over them again. Fiddly, but achievable. This is assuming you haven't damaged the internal thread on the damper rod. I'd be checking that first.

The other option is a complete fork cap. There are also 2 x cap models on the Sachs. One with a preload adjustment and one without. I spent over 6 months trying to chase a replacement clicker, and in the end got sent some of the tiny alen head bleed screws.. at which point I gave up (had the damaged one repaired within a few days of making the mistake).

Thanks, I think I was reading your old posts. What a dumb mistake. The damper rod threads are ok. Just the darn adjustment screw.

Yep! I made the same dumb mistake. When you reinstall either install the rebound first, and then cap over the top, or start the thread of the clicker before you start the cap.

FWW I have my whole carts and caps sitting in a box.. could probably part them out! Those strange sized shims have to be worth something to someone.. Haha!

Serously though, just get in touch with a decent machinst. They'll fix it up for less than a new cap.
