Seal head swap? Ohlins rear shock

I have an ohlins on my 2002 300xc. In the process of rebuilding the shock I am wondering if it's cool to swap the seal head for something the same size, but of other make. All Balls and moose seal heads are cheap and ohlins specific seal heads seem to be non-existent. I understand that if the seal head is deeper in the shock body, it would marginally lower ride height. Not super worried about that. The seal head for the ohlins is 16x46 and so is the kyb... any thoughts or recommendations? I hear the skf seal heads are not the way to go (according to Les).

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Ohlins seal heads are available, and reasonably priced compared to the other decent solutions. Remember while a change in length at the shock appears to be small it will be roughly tripled in effect at the rear wheel due to the linkage ratio.

Maybe I should deal with ohlins more directly, because there doesn't seem to be rebuild kits available through various retail stores like there are for the kyb shocks. I've contacted one place and just left a message just asking for the whole rebuild kit for 16x46 ohlins seal head and a piston band. Hopefully they have one.
