So whats the verdict on the '08 vs the Guts tall seat? I never got an '08 seat due to a mix up, but I want to do something before I ride again this fall.
I'm looking to add a little height to balance out my submount setup, as I find it a bit too tall when seated. On the other hand I'm not that tall either and don't need a towering seat height.

Who rode with both and can tell me something? Probably Speedy when he gets back from Greece.

Not sure of the 08 but my 02 Guts is worlds better than the stock one. Better for those long rides.

I put a Guts tall soft on my '07. I have no complaints now. I don't have any bad pressure points like my old seat. It actually feels softer than the tall soft that I had on my '01. Also, on my '07 it feels like my seat height is similar to my stock one after the tall soft compresses under your weight. Actually, I could still use some more extra height to help ease the seat-to-standing transition. I almost think it is a tall extra-soft if they make one.

FYI... the previous owner had a Guts standard medium on my '07. This one was horribly stiff. I would not recommend their medium foam... unless you like bondage.

I actually got used to the stock '07 seat, did some pretty rough enduros with no more issues than any other seat I've had. Now with the submount it just feels too low. Also, not being on the bike all summer, and not even being able to lift it off the stand, it feels brutal once I did sit on it. Then again I thought the Hyper seat was a marshmellow when I got it. The Hyper seat sucks, but not for being soft. Its sloped too much and forces you foward into the tank. I have a new DP seat coming I got on a Ducati board classified for a great price. Its cut flatter and has a gel insert.

Ditto that. It helps a LOT. You can feel the slippage between the shorts and pants that would otherwise result in chafing. I wear them on my Duc too. Excellent under my leathers, but even more necessary with jeans. Wet cotton is the worst...

I like my Guts tall medium seat, especially with the sub mount. I find I stand much more because it is easier to do with the taller seat. Initially the seat was very hard but it is well broken in now.

It can't be any harder than the OEM '07 seat. Part of the '07 seat issue is the narrow profile of the top. If the soft is so soft that it compresses to std. height then that does not buy me anything. Maybe buy a tall medium and do some custom work? I could freeze that foam solid with liquid nitrogen and work it with a sander like balsa wood.

I picked up an 08 seat for my ec recently. Heaps better than the stock 07 seat. Prior to getting the 08 I had a Guts soft which I found to be ordinary. It was too soft and could feel the seat base every once in a while. The 08 stock seat gets the thumbs up from me.

Does it have and/or will you run a submount? Thats what I'm interested in, the feel of the '08 seat height with the submount.

I had a problem and will be off the bike until next year, lucky if I ski this winter. I have time to get either the '08 seat or a tall foam.
