Silencer repack

I noticed some black s**t leaking from the silencer yesterday.

I pulled it apart and found the fibreglass packing to be totally gunked up.

Could/would this have an adverse effect on the running of the engine...

yep. repack it when the exhaust note gets dull - i repack at least once or twice a year. if your pipe spooges, you may need to do it more often.
