Hi All

Many years ago, I had a 98 Six Days ec250 and used to speak to a guy call Jim at Smackover site. Is that site/shop still going?

I don't beleive he's in bussiness anymore. I have seen him post on thumpertalk recently though and I'm sure he looks in on this place aswell.

Hi,
Jim Cook closed his doors over five years ago; The shop was Smackover Motorsports and the forum was called "Talking Smack".

The forum there was called "talking smack" and I ran it for Jim on my home linux server at no charge to him for about five years prior to that time. When Jim closed his doors - A few of us started the forum here in 2006.

Uwe Hale originally created "Talking Smack" for Jim back in 1999 or so - In 2001, I moved it over to commercial forum software, vbulletin, so that it was faster and we had searching etc. I remember GMP, gasgasman, and cruiser were the backbone of the community, even way back then...

Thanks Jeff your name rings a bell. Good to see the community so alive and well, who is the EC200 expert that I can call on?

blanc,

Jim is still an active member here and posts occasionally, name is "Wudsracer". Jim is a great guy and did a lot for the brand. Cruiser and I bought our '03 250s from Jim as well as many parts. Back in the day Jim was probably the top GasGas parts dealer in the country. There was a lot of good info on that old site that was unfortunately never archived.

There are a few sharp guys here with first hand 200 knowledge, like stainlesscycle and widebear. I would say for a new owner with a good basic understanding taking a fresh look at the bike, one would have to first focus on any possible compromises related to the 250 based design, just like you would if it was a 125 based design like the KTM. Knowing what I know from the past and backed up by stainlesscycle's experience, the first thing I'd do is swap in a 36mm carb.

Thanks a mill. I think I am going to try an autoclutch and just ride her for now. I plan on adding Protection though, swingarm discs etc.
