Snow Run Gearing?

Doing the NETRA Snow Run Enduro on Sunday. This will be the first time on snow and studs.

I currently run a 52t sprocket and I was wondering if a 50t may be a better choice. I am open to suggestions. Thanks.

As usual the Snow run is a tough event to prepare for. (Caant help with gearing only you can tell what you like)

Car studs?
Short Rally Studs(16mm)?
Rally Studs(22mm)?
Some years 8 inches on the North side of hills and Mud on the south side?

Jacket or not?

What Gloves.

Drives me nuts every year.

I love it.

Glad to see you Coming out EFF.
Dont dress to warm.

I just fineshed studing a couple tires 16mm , shot a little deeper. Should work good tomorrow put will probablly get trashed

Hi Ed.

I borrowed a set of tires from Paul (Windorman) so I have what I have. I stayed with the 52t sprocket.

I hear you on the clothing. I think I'll have layers and spare gloves and If I over dressed I can peel something off at gas.

Looking forward to making a run a C "High Point", yup this highest possible score before houring out LOL

See you there......!

Ed,

I had an absolute blast. Conditions were perfect and gained a lot of confidence as the day went on. I even did pretty well with timekeeping. I'm so glad i went!

Great seeing you there.

Good showing for the GG riders in the sea of orange and growing blue bikes.

Senecal 2nd overall (lowest score in the point grabbing 9th section)
Maier 8th overall
Ed V. won his class

Not sure I like the new combined A/B super senior class. Doesn't seem fair to me for the B guys.

Freaking Al Zitta (KTM sorry) dropped a 19 in the Masters class. He would have easily won the SS class and tied for 3rd in the A senior class. Wow!!

This was my first Brand X enduro. I picked it up quickly, but can easily see how I could have saved some points if I had an enduro computer. The only real bad section was Section 9, that was long and had the toughest terrain.

1. I could have avoided at least one of my burns, but probably both. I just didn't have time to figure it out in my head before entering the check. Both were only one minute.

2. Most areas I could have pushed harder to save points, but not knowing exactly how I was doing in the woods I rode a safe pace. I had fun and rode a fun pace so that was good.

Last thing is I rode C Light and took second place because there were only 4 riders in the class. Decided that I should ride C Senior from now on.

My favorite check was check 7. I zeroed it and knew it. I knew there would be a check after that long reset near the field, especially after they said go slow in the riders meeting. The guy that blew by me just before the check burned it by 5 minutes and I laughed my ass off as they marked me on my minute. That kept me smiling the rest of the day.

Ed,

Main thing is you had fun! The thing to do if you like this sport, is hook up with a faster guy(s) and let them keep time. Just concentrate on riding for a few races, and then pick up some timekeeping equip if you like it. If you want to venture south this season, we have a few races that are closed course and/or known control events (like the new national format) so no timekeeping equip is needed. Or, you are always welcome to ride with us.

Thanks Glenn. I acually like the timekeeping aspect. I found it to be a fun game. The only other enduro's I've run are the Rhody enduro and they use the old AMA rules and I didn't find the Brand X any more difficult.

The terrain and the traction of the spikes made it a pleasure to ride.

I have toyed with coming down to Sandy Lane a few times since my sister-n-law lives down there, but I never make it down. If I every finding myself heading towards No. NJ I will definitely shoot you a PM.

I'll be at Sandy Lane on 3/21. I too like the timekeeping, but the KC format is a way to bring more people into the sport. NJ has more of a land problem than NE and it also makes placing checks eaiser. Perhaps our new governer will improve things, as he already stripped control of the state forests from the DEP(who killed the Ridge Run Enduro in NJ) and placed it with the individual commisions, like the Pinelands commision in south NJ.

I did the Rhody back when it was the Little Rhody national, combined ECEA and NETRA event, TOUGH!

We should all try and get together for a ride this year.
