Spooge?

Spooge happens. Two strokes just do it, especially if you ride around at low rpm. Remember, there is oil in the gas..

Probably the best way to combat spooge is to repack the silencer regularly and clean the inside of the expansion chamber.
Preventative measures would be to run an oil with a lower flashpoint. Usually the high dollar fancy oils have a high flashpoint that are great for high load, high rpm use, but are not necessary, or even desirable for most tail riding. I like Motul 710, but there are plenty of good options, usually at half the cost of the "good" oil.

Another note on spooge. Mix ratio has little to nothing to do with it. I run 28:1 with my current jetting because it seems like the magic combo. I experience very little spooge.

Roost has a good point. I'm running 50:1 and I have spooge even though I'm jetted pretty lean. I don't run my engine hard.

"Good" oil is "good" because it doesn't burn and hangs around.

Twist the go-grip Krieg - twist it!

I was actually following a really decent thread on TT on this topic, and it seems the proof is in the pudding - if you tear the bottom end down and everything has a nice lubricious coating, you've got the right amount of oil, no matter if or what your tailpipe drips.

I once new a girl that was "lubricious".....just sayin';):D

I didnt get huge amount of spooge on my 11 Ec250...N3EH and 172 main...Maxima K2 @ 50:1

the tip gets a bit wet but never ran down the length of the silencer..

We get heaps of spooge here in Australia. We have a 200 and 300 2011 6 day and both have it running down the the silencer. We both run GRO SYNT-7 at 50:1 and GAS GAS Australia says that they won't warrant the bikes if we use anything else. We have the spooge drip directly onto the rear disc, they are aligned perfectly. Who needs brakes anyway, they only slow you down.

How much spooge should I expect on my '11 XC 300?

A lot
50:1 Maxima K2 , full length of the silencer after a 2 hour trail ride, still working out my jetting for temp and altitude- does anyone know of a chart that might be simpler than the GG manual? we had a pretty nice one for our KTM 200exc.

Spooging is normal with the FMF Q.
Happens on KTMs that run them also.

This is the case with most S/A mufflers on bikes that are ridden with the powervalve closed more than open. I used to run a straight thru muffler in the winter (wet for us) months to reduce replacing muffler packing.

Exactly, I do the same, SA only when inspected for it. Guys, more than anything its the oil. A good high flash point oil, like Amsoil or K2, will not burn. Thats why the PV and head is so clean, but you trap what blows out in the silencer if the exhaust velocity is low, like at low speeds. After a few days this past weekend riding with my wife and kids I need a repacking!

Zachary, my 17 yo son, and I both have 2010 300 Nambos. They were jetted the same until recently and we both use Motorex 2T oil mixed around 42:1. His bikes spooges a little. Mine doesn't spooge at all. Go figure. Maybe I rev mine more?
Clay

clay: maybe your bike is under "higher load" than your son's is, and it's burning off the oil more efficiently??????? just sayin',maybe it could happen?
