Stator Repair

I thought I had a good seal one the ignition cover and neglected to take it off for a couple months. Big mistake. There were several tablespoons of dirt and various little bits of the stator floating around under the flywheel. The pickup also had the little plastic cover rubbed off. Are parts available to rebuild these? I have a soldering iron and very basic electrical knowledge.

I can't tell from the pictures, but did the insulation completely fail? You can polish the rust off the top of the pole pieces and it might still work. Only the single large winding and the pickup sensor is needed to make the engine run.

If the lighting windings measure less than .7 ohms white wire to ground and .6 ohms yellow wire to ground, they won't work.

Likely still OK. I've seen a lot worse on careless friends bikes that were still running. Clean it up and measure the windings. Don't use WD-40 it can attack the varnish on the windings. If you do need a new one, the actual stator and pickup is the same as that on a KTM, only the backing plate is different.
