Swapping ohlins for marzocchi forks

My son and I have a couple of GG (03 Ohlins 250 and 06 300 w/Marzocchis). We want to swap forks (he loves the hit of the 250 and I love the bottom of the 300) as his was valved for a bigger rider and mine was valved for a lighter rider (I am much heavier than him). I know we will have to swap rims and axles, but he wants to keep his computer and I am guessing the sending unit on his 03 will be smaller than the 06 axle. What is the work around, if any? Will a sending unit from an 06 work if I can find one?

Many senders have similar electrical characteristics and will work with any speedo. See if you can rig up some test clips to try it before cutting wires if the connectors are different. You may have to swap triple clamps too - are the Ohlins the same outside diameter as the Marzocchi? I think quite a few people have experience with this though and will advise when they spot your post.

I didn't realize it, but the sending unit is made on the brakes, I had just assumed like all the Jap bikes I have owned that it was in place of the spacer.

The tubes were the same size, and I have done the swap but not got to ride it yet. I was wanting to go today, but it is like 17 here in KY this morning.

I have also put a trials tire on for the first time and its killing me that I can't test these things out. Kinda wish I had just done one mod at a time so I could tell just how much each had helped because I hear trails tires really help your suspension.
