i am a parts mgr at a buick gmc subaru store.. a guy came in today talking about installing a subaru engine in a vw bug.. he is an older engineer at bell helicopter.. he is restoring a mr50 honda right now..
we got to talking about dirt bikes, and he asked if i had heard any thing about direct injection on 2 strokes... he told me 2 strokes were making a huge come back in offroad.. i asked what he rode, he said nothing at the time, but asked if i had ever heard of a gasgas ????

he knew all about them... showed him my 2...

pretty cool day.

I work part time in parts at one of the biggest MC stores in NZ, most of the time I get blank looks, or ''is that one of em chinga brands?'', but a few weeks ago I was talking to someone who knew what a gasgas was, I was shocked. Not to mention going to a trail ride and seeing more than 3 GG in the paddock. Might have to sell up and get a TM or something more exclusive.

Even my plain Jane '07 still gets some attention, my wife told me lots of people were eyeballing it at the last race while I was busy signing my kids up. As far as I could tell only me and another GG rider, both in B SSR, with a very large turnout.

i usually get the "chinga" thing also... I kinda, depending on the situation, dont even bring it up.. most people have never heard of gg's at all..
there are more in amarillo than you would think.. one of my riding buds has 3, i have 2, i know another guy who has 2, one other with a new gg trials..
i would venture to say there are 10 atleast in amarillo, tx...
most rides now, we out number the other brands in our group.. when he "hotrodn" on here and his son and i go , there are three in a group of 7 or 8..
he knew all about the "guy" who bought the importing..... had to clue him in on clay... new bikes coming in 12.... i was shocked to say the least..

Jay,
A story like this means we are getting the job done. When I say "we" I mean our company and the GG fatihful. Couldn't do it without the help of satisfied customers. Thank you!
Clay

Very cool! Years ago when my buddies were going to KTM, I always said I didn't like the thought of going "exotic" due to parts avail, and quirks. I'm very happy with my "Spanish Girlfriend", no reason to turn back!

2012 gasgasg

Well,

Come Spring time I will be on a new 250 es gasgas..I think in some ways there is a hint of trials bike engineering built into there enduro bikes.

Not that my specialty is trials, just where my roots were born...looking forward to the new bike!

Great forum,Cheers..

this is what i see GG has going for it...
1. it is a great bike that is purpose built for the type of riding i think most of us do. it is not a motocrosser you have to convert.
2. they are different.. and i think that is a good thing.. i have always had something that was a little different. Never really wanted something that was the same as every one else had..
3. they are as reliable as an anvil... they just flat work..

Last I counted , they're were aprox. 20 GG in our Series (VCHSS) and I believe some more have been added since that.

2 years ago I bet they're were less than ten ,probably more like six.

"My Spanish Girlfriend":p;):D !! Please don't tell my wife !

I have always had a "thing" for exotic bikes. When I first started racing MX way back in 1970, I was the first guy in town to by a Penton, within a couple of months there were three more Pentons in town. I traded that Penton in for a DKW 125 with the leading link forks. I think I was about the only one in KY. with one of those! I have had 2 Bultacos, one was a POS (73 125 Pursang) the other was the best MX bike I ever had (75 250 Pursang). Never once did I worry about getting parts and this was years before good ol' Algore invented the internet. I guess the most parts I ever needed for a bike was the Penton and I had to drive about 200 miles round trip to get those but that was when gas was 35 cents a gallon....

I bought my 1st GG back in early 07 from a guy that had his dealership in a garden equipment shop. There weren't any other GG riders that I knew of in Alabama. I saw one from the Mobile area at a Hare Scrambles and that was it.

Now, I see quite a few. At the last enduro, the Gobbler Getter, Clay was there with his son (I think it was his son anyway...) and another guy on a GG
but there were probably 7 or 8 more scattered thru the minutes. So yeah.....
the word is gettin' around!!!!;) I just counted the GGs in the results from that enduro....there were 18!!!!

Alan,
Does this mean that when there are 50 Gas Gas at an enduro you're gonna sell yours and get an Ossa or Jotagas?
:)
BTW...that was my son and one of my best friends, Taras Massey.

Funny story: In the last section of that race a deer jumped off of a bank in front of Taras and his back leg knocked the headlight off of that bike. That was the only damage it did to the bike. I asked Taras if he crashed when he hit the deer and he said he didn't crash but he did fall over because it scared the s*** out of him! :D

My '05 has been a delight. Just keep 'er hooked to the battery tender and it's ready to rock.

The 2010 seems light years ahead of anybody elses. Amazing.

Even though I'm suddenly having a bit of trouble with both mine, i really like them and I really want to continue to like them. Hoping I can get the brand new '10 back on the trail without too much pain, and get the '05 tweaked and trade it in on a new ec 300.

Would really rather not have to drink the (not so) cool aid just because they are readily available. Everybody's gottem around here and I don't want to be that guy.

tlow... i have seen that vid.. that is spooky..

i have been ripped off my bike by a go pro on top of my helmet... no way i would wear that thing..

he has since painted it... it looks like a glittery glastron boat....nice..

Yeah, that dude could have easily been killed.

I hear ya on the helmet cam mount. I've always thought that a mount on the side of the full face would be the ticket. I want to mount my lights there like Mouse McCoy in Dust to Glory.

A few years back a friend and the owner of his company were trying to recruit me away from my employer to come work for them. Listing the "pros" and "cons" my friend said that the owner of the company rides. Races vintage motocross and has a bunch of bikes.
"How bout that!" he says.

I snickerred and said, "Find out what he rides. I ride a Gas Gas so I can't just go work for a guy who rides any old thing".

Next day my friend calls me up and says, "Dude, you're in; the owner's trail bike is a Gas Gas. You're going to be so in because all the other guys only hunt, fish, or golf."

I got the job and the owner gave me his Dodge Ram Hemi for a company truck.:D Always wants to show me the latest parts he's purchased and wants me to take his bikes for rides around the parking lot.
