There will be no Gassing on this Gasser !

100 mile ride Sunday and bike rode and started perfect as normal. It was washed when i got home, oiled etc and put away.

Today wouldnt start, and im not sure its even fired at all (Perhaps once ?....but amongst the kicking, sweating and swearing its hard to remember !)

Immediately remembered how much water id got near carb area whilst cleaning so i loosened clamps, rotated the carb around and undone the plug at the bottom of float bowl. I drained that - and also ran some more fuel through to flush anything out with the drain removed.

Tap is working fine, and when i removed the fuel line from the carb - i could turn it on or off and get fuel through or stop the flow perfectly with the tap.

A check on wiring in a couple of areas id poked about in when cleaning showed nothing obvious, and the bike is sparking good and strong ! I even syringed a little fuel down the cyclinder head to see if this would get it to fire - but nothing. If it wasnt absolutlely peeing down with rain and getting dark - id have tried to bump start it up the road.

So i have fuel and i have a spark. Where next ?

Try pulling the ignition side cover, and see if it's dripping wet in there. Good time to clean up inside there...since it is open.

did that to my gasser right after i got... got so in tune to get it running, i was kicking my brains out.. nothing..

luckily my wife noticed i had put the wash plug in the silencer.....

she has not let me forget that .... only been about 6 yrs...

We've all done something dumb.

I manage it most days......... ;)

another time i was changing a flat....and could not get the tire off.. it was flat..i was in a hurry.... she said..." did you pull the core out ?"... i scoffed... it is flat...

pulled core and air came out.... dont live that one down easy either....

when i left the wash plug in, she just said... i did not think those would run with that pluggy thing in it......... doh...

Same thing happened to me. Did it once in my life. But, she wont let me forget it. Changed plug, kicked and kicked. Too funny now.

Went out this morning and kicked it over - and actually heard it fire a couple of times :)

So as my house is on a bit of a hill, i snicked it into 3rd gear and bumpstarted it at the first try.

Spluttered a little at first, but soon revved cleanly, and continued to do so when i started it as normal later on.

I can only presume i had some water gremlins having a new year giggle at me somewhere

Yea, good call.....

We left my house at 9.30am to ride - got back around 3.30pm. Took me an hour to wash bike, oil chain etc and by that time it was dark and i was wet and cold.

Bike got dried and went in garage, and i went for a hot bath.

But your right: Another 10 minutes spent running it until warm will be what i'll be doing in future !
