OK ,
So I have read the Fork Conversion threads in this forum like 3 or 4 times each..
I am ditching the 45 Marzocchi front end on the `11 -300 Possibly on the `11-200 as well .. and I have a couple of questions.

1) On the `11, does anyone know the offset for sure ? is it 21 or 22 degrees?

2)I seem to recall a thread by elvis74 in Germany (Maybe) about a kit with a front wheel spacer and a front caliper adapter bracket with scar triple trees. any one know if that or a similar kit is US available ?

3) there seems to be a small divide in the I like this brand topic: who will give their opinion about Showa or Kayaba ..

I am going to get some front forks bought this weekend and Start this process next week ... Please help by giving me some confidence about my conversion decision .:)

Hey JD, I've herd a coupla fella's have used the forks off a newer yz. Girard aka

I did a fair amount of research into this and you need to get 2006+ yz forks and triples and then you need to get a brake caliper adaptor for an oversized rotor (also yz)

I am not sure what my final answer on the front axel but I think the final option was a yz axel and spacers and different bearings.

There is a lot of info on it here on the forum

Fork upgrade

Hey J.D,
Best improvement you can do to the GG. Not all that difficult. I used 09 yz forks
Revalved by LTR.
Used my GG front wheel with different bearings and the yz axel. Had to machine the spacers a tiny bit in order to centre the wheel. No big deal. Used the yz triple clamps and changed one bearing. As for the brakes I used the GG calliper and just welded up one hole and redrilled and tapped it to fit. Wasn't that difficult just required a bit of patience to get it lined up. I'm super happy with my old 06-300 now.

Ditto on the install.;) Mine are 08' YZ250f forks with .46 springs for now.

what about the CC WP? this is the way I went and I am very happy. I just bored out the lower clamp a little so there was no pressure on my forks. and picked up a ktm wheel everything bolts up same brakes and everything lines up. really easy upgrade.

I would think that is also an option, but guess that there are more kyb forks available than cc wp forks (or maybe that is not the case in a country that has a stronger mx culture than offroad/enduro one)

not sure how hard they would be to find where you are. I had no problem finding a set the place i get my suspension done built them and knew someone with the front wheel, maybe i just lucked out. It was nice not to worry about clamps or brackets really easy just had the local machine shop bore the lower clamps not much i think it was .7 of a mm in diameter. just so there was no pressure on the bushings in the forks. I could have bolted them on with out boring but it seemed like a waste of money getting the forks valved and not having them set up right.

Ok,guys I am sorry for getting back in the game on this thread .. I am working super long days and trying to prep two bikes for the 2014 Race season.. :(

I actually talked to "Gary Emig" and he thinks that I should use the Showa's
So now I am even more on the fence ... I am going to have him build me a set of billet triple clamps but the first thing he asked for was the offset..

Any Ideas ?

Thanks In advance

BTW : I have given the KTM front end a long glance but am having a difficult time finding the year of forks that have been recommended..

Do a search for "Brentmartell" and you'll find a 17ish long page thread about his Showa fork set up on his 2011 model. I bought it all later when he sold it and went further with it. He used a CRF front wheel but I took it further and made the GG front wheel work. Billet Emig triples would be really cool but using the stock ones only requires machining the lower a bit larger and having the machine shop roll some shim stock for the uppers. I was originally going to do a KYB SSS fork swap and had actually bought some used forks and some nice aftermarket YZ triples but abandoned that when the Showa set up came up for sale and haven't regretted it. I don't know the offset on the stock GG triples, might be best to send him yours to measure if you get the custom ones made?

the one issue i seem to remember from brentmartells thread was that the showas are longer than the kyb/sachs, may be a bit of an issue

You're right. I use a sub mounted stabilizer so I have plenty of room to raise the forks in the clamps. Without doing that or using bar risers or taller handlebar clamps of some sort it wouldn't work. I thought the KYBs had the same issue though?

the wp were a little longer to. you don't want to use risers. It is more about the way the bike sits and how it changes the handling.
I went with the wp's because of cost and time. If I had more of either I would be running your setup.

JD- Kayaba SSS (2006+) are awesome forks when valved. Mine sucked up all that stuff at our race yesterday no problem. But I'm on a yz290F. :D

Thinking about building a 2015 Gasser since Wilmington powersports is coming on board as a dealer. I loved the zoke 48's and never even revalved or resprung them, hated the 45's.
