Trick to get rod off -power valve

Read thru a bunch of threads and didn't find this; I'm doing top end and trying to get the power valve out for cleaning.

Have the rhs cover off and removed the nylock nut, not sure how to get the rod off the threaded part - not enough clearance where it goes into the case (don't have the rhs case off).

Thx for any input!

Oh yeah, if there's a how to on removing the power valve assembly, I'd really appreciate it! I watched Leo's vid from the sticky, but it's not sinking in :o:o

Yeah check the technical articles & read that article (down the bottom) also linked back on main home page.

Thanks fellas; was worried about bending that rod too much as I didn't want to dislodge any of the bearings in the case. I'll get to it in the next night or two.

And thankfully, there were several mentions of heating the nylock nut prior to removal - put a lighter to it for ~10 seconds and it came off without any torque required :D

(F5) - not trying to be dense...but what tech article are you seeing at the bottom of the page - all I see is related threads/posts? And I'm going to feel really dumb(er) if I hit the main forum page and see a list of tech articles...just been going through searches to try and find stuff :o

be extra careful when you reassemble,as you tighten the nut it tries to rotate the whole assembly.wedge a socket or ? in the left side to jam the actuator plate as you torque the nut, otherwise you pull the rod and your balls may drop!

Ok, have the rod off...now wondering what the trick is for getting the right side out. Translated the French site Jake linked and it says remove the lever and large washer, tried pulling pretty hard and not much movement. Both sides have bolts removed...brute force again?

Thanks!

Got the assemblies out, had to bend the rod a fair bit to get the rhs out, but it's out.

Now, how to get the flapper out? Doesn't want to fit through exhaust port, even with spigot off. Tried using grips and pulling, afraid of scoring that section...is that a worry? Guess is it's the carbon build up on it?

So, any tricks on this one LOL? Be glad when this first time is done :o

Like puzzles?

Turn the pv flapper sideways and remove it either through the exhaust port (either back into the cylinder or out). I've noticed it takes a bit more finess on the 250 vs the 300 cylinders, so its possible the 200 is a tad smaller again.

Had to turn it sideways to get it out, wasn't coming any other way.

So, another question, are the bearing and spacer supposed to come off the rhs pv assembly? Sleeve came off no prob, but I can't get the others off. Hoping to torch the rhs pv assembly anppto clean.
